Rookie Draft

Postby J J on Wed Jan 31, 2007 8:32 pm

I live in the Philippines and obviously I do not know how the NBA Draft works, how can a player enter in the rookie draft? Is it possible for a foreign player to be drafted because of recommendations of other basketball associations? Please enlighten me. :?

You should read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Draft
If you have any questions afterwards, I'm sure people on here will answer them for you.

You could probably get your local coach to give Commish. Stern a call, he might be able to get you in.

Another question, some Filipinos(Philippine Citizens) graduate high school at an early age and are mostly recognized in their college years in our own Association(Philippine Basketball Association) if for example, I, who will most likely graduate high school in 1 1/2 months at the age of 15(accelerated a year) will go to College, then off to the PBA, can I still be drafted from the NBA while in the PBA?Is it possible?Or another way?

What makes you say that? just because there has not been one Philippine player who made it in the NBA Draft does not mean it is possible, what made your "right" mind say that I wont ever get drafted even if you barely know a single information about me?

Dude please just think real. If you were entering college and was a prospect for the Philippine Basketball Association you would at least be somewhat heard of by some of the people on this forum. You just add to the list of retarded filipino people on this forum. Sorry but please have a reality check.

The NBA doesn't have a non-compete contract with any other leagues AFAIK, so you can apply where ever you like.

This is fairly common for Euro players, they apply for the draft while still playing in Europe, and come over several years later. Kukoc did this, and i believe Manu did as well.

After reading hammertime's posts I thought people here in NBALIVEFORUMS are all like him (not seeing one sensible reply in this thread before maes and killer_crossover) . Hammertime IMO is a person who likes to discourage other people from chasing their dreams just to satisfy himself of recruiting other people to his own group of people who always see failure as their second option, I pity people who think they look superior just because they say stupid and offensive remarks to other people, Pity.

This goes to Tendo also, sorry I could not find your sarcasm very amusing. Retards like you should really get a job.

Thanks maes and killer_crossover somehow I felt relieved. :)

Joseph I think you have to realize these guys are just taking the piss. I don't think they would be opposed to your success, but in all reality it has a very low percentage of occurring. That is not to say you don't have the skills, just the fact that only so many people in the world play in the NBA, let alone are considered as possible draft picks. The odds of that happening within this community, I imagine, would be quite low.

That considered, tendo and hammertime it is quite unnecessary to be so aggressive in your responses, and Joseph I wouldn't start directly flaming them in retaliation as it will never get you anywhere. Either way, the personal attacks need to stop at this point. If they continue I will either lock or delete the thread. Get it?

Yeah, definitely 'got' it. I highly doubt anyone else would of found anything i said to be offensive, as we both said 'taking the piss'. I'm not attacking hammertime but in comparison to what he said i'm not even an issue. but having said that, all is well. I guess joseph just kinda read what i said outa context.

@ Joseph, while i'm not 'retarded' in any way, shape or form i do however agree with you that i should get a job. Graduated a good 2 months ago and what have i done? Absolutely nothing. I really should be ashamed of myself.

I quite don't understand most Europeans for looking down on people who lived in economic-poor countries, Yes, Europe is far more advanced and more powerful,so? what makes them as a person better than us?

Now you're crossing the line from being offended, to pulling shit out of your ass. Where in heavens name did that come from? Who is acting superiour? Where did anything about someone's country/economic standing or power come in to play?

Dude, you want to have dreams of being some NBA superstar, you be all dandy and do just that. If people feel you're a nincompoop, they've got all the right to say it. Don't get yourself so worked up about the fact people scoff at you and your (very hard to achieve) dream. You'll get that a lot.

Lastly, you're 15, dream away for now...just don't let it ruin your real life.
