Fed up with Wade

Postby J J on Sat Jan 20, 2007 2:58 pm

He and his "fall down due to no contact" tactics are becoming annoying, first of all he is ranked 1st in free throw attempted due to getting A LOT of "friendly calls", I mean is there anyway to stop this?

Season, Playoffs, Finals. Always, he drives, "falls down", free throw. Shoots a J, "falls down", free throw. Drives, "4-5step crossover" no call, lay-up/dunk..

I wonder how much percent of his salary goes to the referees' salaries?

No, i meant FTA per game. Where it is 11+ FT a game, which is pure bullshit.

Arenas gets bumped most of the time and Kobe gets beaten almost every time he gets an open look at the lane but usually he gets no call.

meh, if it's not broke don't fix it. i'm not particularly keen on the favortism that he gets, however, if i was in his shoes i would do exactly the same thing -- and why not? if it's gonna help his team win, then by all means . . .

I know, even if I were in his shoes I would do the same thing but I mean, could the officiating be any fairer?

I remember I was almost banned for discussing about Wade in the finals. Stern is so desperate.

No he meant the two sentences separately.

I know, just because Wade is a rising star doesn't mean he should be the ref's favorite, the officiating on a Heat game is pure bullshit.

It's the same for all slashing guards and swingmen. I don't agree with it either, but if you think it's only Wade getting the calls, you don't watch enough basketball.

I'm sick of the way the refs call the game in general too, but it's just the worst with Wade. You can say he's smart for making the moves refs will call these days, but I'm indeed getting fed up with it.

ps. maybe this whole discussion should've been in here: http://www.nbaliveforums.com/ftopic45775.php

This is probably the biggest reason I don't watch the NBA as much as I used to. The gay calls that refs make really take away from the intensity of some games and make it not watchable for me.

Wade gets the most, by far.

I don't think Wade is the only one who gets these calls, I ONLY THINK that he is the one who gets the most of them, who gets like 4-5 shitty calls a game and thats an understatement.

wades ability to flop and "act" is why the heat won the nba finals, it had nothing to do with his basketball ability. sometimes he would fall down with a full foot or more inbetween him and his defender and still get the call.

Kobe & Arenas both get plenty of calls...but both those guys are primarily outside shooters. Wade attacks the hoop pretty much every time. He takes the Ginobili tactic 1 step higher because there's no Tim Duncan or Parker to share the ball with.

It's the new "touching the ballhandler is a foul, even if he runs into you" ruleset which is BS, it's not just Wade getting it.

I hate the Miami Heat and Dwayne Wade, but still - if he can get those calls by "acting" a little bit, why the hell not? He drives to the hoop so much that he should definitely be near or at the top of the league in free throw attempts. He doesn't get 4-5 terrible calls a game either, that's ridiculous. I've watched probably 5-6 Heat games this year and there's been maybe 5 calls altogether for Wade that I didn't agree with. It goes the same for Kobe, Lebron, etc. too - these guys play physical, draw contact, get the calls, and then they try to slip in a little bit of an act once in a while and get a couple extra calls here and there. What's the big deal? They're helping their team win.

dan, you should watch the 05-06 Finals, after watching it im pretty sure you would agree with me.

I don't see why you should blame Wade. It's the ref making these calls. I felt the same way about Devin Harris and the way he draws charges. He looks like he literally throws himself back after taking a small charge.

i dont blame wade for the flopping he does, i blame the league for allowing it to be apart of the game. divac did this endless and the refs just stopped calling it for him, they need to do that with wade(granted divac flopped on D not on offense). reggie miller was a huge player in making the no contact flop a big part of the game today. i didnt blame him as i dont blame wade. do whatever it takes to win right? if talent alone is not enough then use your brains, thats just good basketball i guess. still the league needs to stop this.
