Changes are good... I can't tell if he improves, but it's good that he tries something new...

At this point of his career where he can't really just bulldoze people as much as he can in the past, he HAS to improve his free throws if he still wants to score alot.

Oh yeah, I can't wait to see these. I hope he is a good FT shooter, it would help out fantasy basketball so much.

Good idea to start practicing it one handed, forces you to get your palm under the basketball and put some arc on the ball instead of line driving it.

I'm also impressed that someone of his career is actually spending time in the summer trying to improve little parts of his game...there are scrubs who won't even practice FTs much less a superstar.

By the sounds of things he's never really bothered trying anything drastic until now... I read an interview with some shooting expert who was brought in to help him with his FT's years ago and apparentely he didn't listen or really want to change anything at all. I would've thought after having this problem for so long, right at the end of his career is leaving it a bit late.

I've read that shooting one handed has helped him get more of an arc into his shot. That must surely be better than what he was doing before.

I'd say he's doing it out of necessity. With advancing age and rule changes making him less of a force on offense the Hack-a-Shaq technique is much more effective. Back in the day he could shoot 5/14 from the stripe and still score 25-30 points whereas these days it stands out as even more of a weakness since he's not making up those points with his field goal attempts.

Let's see if it'll take him past the 50% FT mark by the end of the season.

Well he still can, because he's still huge, but as soon as he starts doing it, the refs call him for it. They call him differently now.

Few years back people actually tried to defend him, then Divac just resorted to falling down and since then.

Am I saying he's just as dominant as before? Nopes. Do they call him differently? Yeps.

wilt chamberlain used to shoot them one handed. Heck rick barry shot them underarm. Doubt it'll make a difference for Shaq though.

I forgot about Wilt's FT shooting form (saw some Classic games), man that was ugly. Even uglier than Ben Wallace, imo.
