The Best Contracts of the last 3 years

Postby air gordon on Sun Apr 02, 2006 3:29 am

I was going over the worst contract thread and the other threads mentioning on how so many players are overpaid....it got me thinking: Which players have the best contracts? Not counting ROOKIE CONTRACTS, from the top of my head, i couldn't think of 5 players, or at least 5 notable players.

going through some of the salaries, here's what i came up with: (off of hoopshype)

Kyle Korver- 6yrs/~25mil
Steven Hunter- 5yrs/15mil
Morris Peterson- 2yrs/~9mil
Matt Bonner- 2yrs/4mil
Andres Nocioni- 2yrs/~5.7mil
Chris Duhon- 3yrs/~12mil
Chauncey Billups- 2yrs/~12 mil
Stephen Jackson- 5yrs/full MLE
Anthony Johnson- 3yrs/~7.8mil
Zaza Pachulia- 3yrs/12mil
Gerald Wallace- 3rs/~16mil
Alonzo Mourning- (Just what Miami's paying)- 1yr/1.14mil
hedo Turkoglu- 4yrs/MLE
Rafer Alston- 5yrs/22mil
Shane Battier- 6yrs?~MLE
Michael Finley- 3yrs/8.7mil
Earl Boykins- 3yrs/~7.5 mil
Ricky Davis- 3yrs/~MLE
Rashard Lewis- 2yrs/~18mil
Corey Maggette- 4yrs/30mil
Tim Thomas- 1yr/389k
Ron Artest- 3yrs/21.45 mil
Mike James- 1yr/3.410

Kyle Korver's contract isn't exactly one of the best ones out there. And I would like to add Haslem to that list. He's a quality starting PF who doesn't need the ball often to be effective on offense and can provide good things on the defensive end, all that and more for only MLE.

I thought my head was spinning when I saw Korver on that best contract list. Good thing VanK pointed that one out, made me regain my senses again.

Whats Earl Boykins doing on your list? He gets 1.5 M per year, and I think thats perfect for a 6th man with 13 PPG and 4 APG!

Add Peja to that list. I'm not sure how much it is exactly, but it's in the Artest range.

Zaza Pachulia. Very solid rebounder for a low cost. If only Toronto had a player like that....

Rafer Alston- 5yrs/22mil

I'm not a huge fan of Alston's contract. It seems a tad big for someone who hasn't been playing too well for the Rockets.

i think anytime you can get a starter caliber player who's relatively young to sign for less then the mid-level exception, it's a good contract.

Peja and Haslem are good additions
