How many more years do you think the NBA will be around?

Postby dada on Mon Feb 20, 2006 3:01 pm

I was sitting watching the allstar game thinking about how much I really love the NBA and I dont know what I would do if I couldnt watch it (..same goes for football(soccer)). Then I thought to myself "There will probably be a day when the NBA will be only a minor part of world history."

I mean, all good thing eventually come to an end and I am sure sometime another sport will come out of the shadows and basketball won't be as profitable as it once was. I'ts not like the league has been around for centuries or something. As hard as it is to think about, it will happen someday I believe.

I think it will at least be around for my lifetime but I am wondering what you guys think about this. How many more years do you think it has?

well the thing is, the NBA hasn't reached it's peak yet. It's just starting to go global. Bball is still a major sport, and i can't see the best league beeing phased out any time soon.

The NBA as we know it? Who knows. With Stern's enthusiasm in global expansion it may cease to be a national league and become a world league one day. But I don't think it's going out of business anytime soon.

Organized sports will be around forever, as long as there is no breakthrough in technology that makes human walking and running considered obsolete, or unless there is a global phenomenon - occurence that makes sports seem unimportant. Like an alien invasion.

So, in a few words, I do believe organized basketball and organized sport in general, will be around for a long, long, time.

Nice idea for a thread, BTW. (Y)

It will aroudn as long as not too many players use performance enhancement drugs, causing the league to go on a strike.

Lol. I think Aliens will envade us in the next 10 years, j/k. Anyway I was watching History channel the Future Tech thing and shit....In 50 years you won't even have to push abutton on remote to change tv channel.....I think in the next 100-200 years if we do not get blow the fuck up by evil aliens  then the technology will go so far as there will be no major leagues. You can simply put on sunglasses and have yourselfa virtual reality....online...with 1billion other people. I would hate it if that day ever comes, but hopefully it is nothing to worry about for me for as long as I am young and strong to play bball.
