Dennis Rodman played in Finland yesterday...

Dennis played for ToPo of the Finnish championship league yesterday... I watched the game from the TV and I have to say that he wasn't quite him self... It was crazy...

First off, I'll have to state that his knee was hurting and so he wasn't all that hustle as he was in his NBA days... He still got boards pretty well... Although he was lacking some of that aggression he's so known for.

But at the age of 44, what can you expect... You can't expect the man to play like he was 20 again... But the weirdest thing of it all was that he was shooting threes like crazy!!! That's right, I almost couldn't believe my eyes when he went up for the shots... That was just something else. He scored 14 points in the game with 5 LONG DISTANCE shots... On one of the shots he had his foot on the line so that wasn't a three... But RODMAN SCORING 4 THREE POINTERS IN ONE GAME! That was weird...

Overall, he played pretty well, got some boards and made some great passes to open up others... I don't think he could fit into an NBA team anymore, but he's still got some game left in him and I wouldn't be surprised to see him play somewhere this winter...

Like the ToPo GM said in the post game interview: "Some said that he isn't much of an addition to the team, but Dennis was our best player today." ToPo lost the game in the end... They have been in a bad situation since they sent their foreign help packing a couple of weeks back...

So there you have it... My report on Dennis Rodman... The three point shooting guy...

reminds me of.....Cliff Robinson of the Nets. Cliffs old, but can knock down open long range shots. Dennis didnt get invited back to the NBA because of his attitude I think

The couple of times he spoke to the media he's had his act together and he was here to play for the team and play for the win. He didn't have an attitude and his words were straight from the professional athlete manual...

On wheter he is broke or not... I don't know, but he didn't get paid that alot to play here so I don't think it was for the money. I think he just likes the competition and he did it for the Finnish basketball fans as we never get to see players of his caliber here in Finland...

The game broke the attendance record for a Finnish championship league too... 7420 people were there to basically see Rodman play...

Well every time he says he wants to come back and that he's fixed his act, he gets himself into an accident or something...that's not good..

Ahem. Actually Rodman scored 17 points, including five three-pointers out of 13 attempts. He pretty much took a shot every time he got the ball behind the arc. He had spent the previous night partying till 5 am and showed up at the stadium like 5 minutes before the start of the game. In other words, he started the game cold, tired and probably hung over. He was completely lost for the first 10 minutes or so...

All in all, I'm quite sure we won't see him playing in the NBA anymore. Near the basket and especially on defense he was just a shadow of his former self. I remember Rodman as someone who played hard. Now it looked like he was trying to avoid physical contact... I just don't see him grabbing 10+ rebounds in an NBA game anymore.

He made some really nice passes though. A skill that doesn't wane with age.

Thanks for the report, interesting stuff. I too think he's worn out his welcome in the NBA. The craziness often overshadowed a fine player, but at his age his production can probably be matched by a younger player who can develop further, will be around longer and doesn't come with the sideshow. Shame he couldn't have left the NBA on better terms, though at least he didn't get to fulfil his fantasy of leaving the court nude.

Same here. I think it was mentioned in his autobiography, Bad As I Wanna Be; for some reason I knew he could shoot.
