MArbury is nowhere near the level of Kobe Bryant. Maybe things aren't supposed to be as simple as they seem to you malfa.

2pac ( Cali ) Vs. Biggie ( NY )
Jackson Vs. Brown

I choose Phil. He is the best.

Never forget Pop! :x

You also forgot Kupchak and Thomas

I'm gonna go with Phil Jax on this one. He has a better franchise player and has a better roster in terms of completeness IMO. NYK just has too many guards. And the Lakers are actually trying to get players to fit in the Triangle while the Knicks just doesn't seem to fit with Larry Browns especially with a lot of young guys that Brown doesn't generally like

Not really, Phil had the best players (MJ, Pippen, Shaq, Kobe) of the League when he won.

People keep saying that, and those people must not have been Bulls fans pre PJ days and watched the early Jordan.

Phil had an athletic freak, flashy but no pass no defense no long range slasher to the basket when he won. When Jordan got to the league he was called the next Dominique Wilkens.

If Jordan was clearly a Hall of Famer as soon as he hit the league, why the hell was he drafted THIRD?

Fact of the matter: Jordan became what most people understand as Jordan under PJ's, Tex Winter's, and Bach's coaching. All three of those guys were very important to the Bulls. Tex = Triangle, Bach = Military style discipline and Defensive mindset, PJ was the politician who could get spoiled NBA Players to listen & motivate.

When PJ got to the Lakers, the Lakers were Dallas. Lots of talent, always an early playoff exit. Lots of people didn't think PJ could ever take that team to the Finals much less win 3. Shaq didn't pass, Kobe had no outside shot.

PJ and his crew come to town, and viola all of a sudden Shaq goes from 2.3 APG to 3.8 APG. Kobe went from going to a "please no 3's!" 26% 3 point shooter to a tolerable 32% 3 point shooter, and more importantly succesfully hit almost twice as many. In the same amount of minutes, Kobe's FG% went up, his TO's went down, his scoring went up.

Nothing in the NBA, and nothing in life "just happens" except the lottery. If it were as easy as assembling the best talent and waiting for them to deliver a championship, the NBA would be dominated by teams like the Clippers and Mavericks.

you can use the whole "Jax had the best players" excuse all you want, but truth is Phil didn't just say "ok go make me look good out there". No he had to implement a system and had to get the players to execute that system. He had to COACH. He even managed to get rings out of a feauding Kobe & Shaq. Not only that but his system made role players look better than they really were

It's not an excuse. IMO, they're both tied. I was just referring to the 9 rings vs 1 ring thing.

I'm inclined to pick Phil Jackson, since there are already players on the Lakers accustomed to his system. I wouldn't be all that surprised if they ended up with similar records though.

I thought the common comparison was actually Dr J. And I think you're exaggerating when you say "no pass no defense", at least from a statistical standpoint. He certainly became a more team orientated player with a better understanding of how to win and utilise his scoring talents after Phil took over, but he'd already developed quite a bit before Jax became the head coach. He'd already been averaging a healthy amount of assists for a shooting guard and had already gained noteriety for his defense.

If Jordan was clearly a Hall of Famer as soon as he hit the league, why the hell was he drafted THIRD?

Very few guards are taken first overall. Big men generally dominate the first overall selection. But at any rate, his draft position isn't necessarily an indication of his skill level/value upon entering the league. Even Willis Reed was taken in the second round.
