Raptors place Murray on waivers

Canadian Press

9/2/2005 2:51:13 PM

TORONTO (CP) - The Toronto Raptors announced Friday they've waived veteran forward Lamond Murray.

Murray, an 11-year NBA veteran, was acquired from the Cleveland Cavaliers on Aug. 25, 2002. But the six-foot-seven, 235-pound Murray averaged just six points, 2.7 rebounds and 15.1 minutes in 95 games with the Raptors.

Murray began his NBA career with the Los Angeles Clippers in 1994-'95. He has appeared in 679 career games, scoring an average of 11.9 points.

Do they have any shooters left, besides Mo-Pete?

He's streaky... but if they start going in, it's a nightmare for the opposition... He's not a pure shooter, though.

Every basketball player whose shots start going in is a nightmare for the opposition, no matter how much of a 'shooter' they are.
Bottom line, he's not a shooter and you made a useless post.

Rose, Calderon, Alston, Bonner can all hit shots at a good percentage if they are given enough room to shoot it. Chris Bosh is also a pretty effective mid-range shooter and Joey Graham is supposed to have a decent mid-range jumper as well, so I think jump shooting still isn't a problem for us. We never really needed Murray anyway, he wasn't going to be getting any playing time and his defence was terrible.

That someone will hopefully be a point guard. Babcock has said many times he's looking for a third point guard, someone to play behind Alston and Calderon. Any ideas? I don't know who's out there anymore . . .

isn't watson still available??? or is he offically signed with Denver . Well , I don't think he would like playing 3rd string anyways . And i was thinking , maybe they might give Jay Williams a chance .That is if he's coming back this year.

Omar Cook is always an option. He's cheap and he probably won't agrue about his minutes. Plus he's got some potential and he runs the team so smoothly.

He's on Denver, and the Raps don't have enough money for him anyways. Jay Williams is who I want to see, over Omar Cook and whoever else..

Ronald Murray is also an option though

He's not a PG...
