The Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the Wizards star guard Larry Hughes will miss 4-6 weeks after fracturing his right thumb in the fourth quarter of the Wizards’ 108-103 victory over the Phoenix Suns Saturday night.
“I am very disappointed that this happened, but I have full confidence that my teammates will play well while I’m out,” said Hughes. “I look forward to getting back as soon as possible.”

This is terrible, this puts a lot more responsibility into Arenas hands in terms of carrying the team. Arenas is going to have to become the triple double machine he was last season again because he's now the only playmaker in the backcourt. I'm speculating that Jarvis Hayes will be starting, which will hurt the already weak defense a lot.
It defiantely hurts a lot, the Wiz were on pace to possibly even win 48-50 games in the season, and Hughes who's very important on many aspects to the team goes down. Those 2.9 steals, very good man to man defense, clutch performances, and 5.4 assists or so will be missed. The team has scorers that can fill the scoring void, but the other things are more important.
