ATLANTA HAWKS TO LIGHT UP PHILIPS ARENA
WITH BRIGHT NEW UNIFORMS

ATLANTA (Nov. 16, 2004) --The Atlanta Hawks will begin a new chapter in franchise history on Wednesday, November 24 against the Miami Heat at Philips Arena, when the team dons their second road uniforms in a game for the first time. The unique on-court look incorporates yellow as the primary color, with black trim, and in lieu of the traditional “Hawks” across the front of the jersey, the club has added “Atlanta” emblazoned in red.

"We are excited about the debut of our new second road uniforms, and believe our fans will like the design, color scheme and look that identifies the city of Atlanta on the front of the jersey," said Hawks President and CEO Bernie Mullin. "In this new era of Atlanta Hawks basketball, this is one example of our renewed commitment to reconnect the Hawks with the Atlanta community that we are proud to be a part of."

The Hawks will wear the second road uniforms at these home games during the season, as well as 4-6 select road contests:

November 24 vs. Miami Heat (7:30 pm tipoff)
December 30 vs. Seattle Sonics (2:00 pm tipoff)
January 17 vs. New Jersey Nets (2:00 pm tipoff)
March 5 vs. Philadelphia 76ers (7:00 pm tipoff)
The new uniforms, which are produced by Reebok, are going to be unveiled on Tuesday, November 16 before the Hawks take on the Houston Rockets at Philips Arena. Instead of the usual warm-up attire, players will sport the yellow and black while they loosen up for the game. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 pm, with doors opening at 6:30.

Kids 12-and-under can receive a free yellow and black replica uniform by attending the Hawks’ January 17 game against the New Jersey Nets and the March 5 game versus the Philadelphia 76ers. Courtesy of Delta Air Lines, the first 5,000 kids through the doors will receive the jersey on January 17 and the shorts on March 5.

I guess all the NBA teams that are coming out with alternate jerseys will use yellow from now on  i.e. hornets, hawks

Almost every team?

Hawks, Hornets, Pacers, Lakers, and maybe the Sonics have yellow as a main colour on their jerseys. That's only 5 teams, and only 4 if Seattle never uses that alternate.

Phoenix, Golden State, Denver and Miami have a small ammount of yellow in their trims. And only things like one thin line in the collar.

Using the handy 'calculator' program under the accessories menu I found out that's only 30% of the league with yellow on any part of their jerseys, even in the smallest part. And only 17% have it as a main colour.

The font on the new jersey looks really bad. The white outlining looks like shit on a white jersey. I do like the Hawks logo on the collar there.

I think MaD_hAND1e was just exaggerating for effect. But colours aside, a lot of the NBA jerseys are starting to look the same with a lot of teams adopting a retro/college style plain look. Atlanta's new yellow alternate jersey doesn't look too bad, but I prefer their traditional red uniforms.

Thats true, but 5 teams using the same colour jersey seems a bit too much, colours are supposed to represent a team, but now it seems there are too many teams and not enough colours. I think, apart from the home whites, other colours shouldn't be used by more than 2 or 3 teams, because it kinda takes away the uniqueness of the uniforms.
Although there are other colours, e.g. blue, red, that are used by heaps of teams, but they are different shades... and i think that there just aren't enough shades of yellow that look good, so all the yellow jerseys look similar.

The blue used by the Jazz, Grizzlies and Mavericks is also a little too similar, as are the designs of the jerseys. There are subtle differences and the secondary colours do vary, but I still think that too many teams have similar jersey colours and designs.
