free throw record

anyone know the most free throws attempted and made in a season? For some reason I think Kobe might be able to break one of them, he is getting about 13free throws a night

yeah its absolutely nuts how many free throws he gets a game and every game is like that.
dont his defenders ever learn. He could possibly be on pace for the record cause I dont remeber a player putting up as many as he does every night. By the way what is the single game record for free throws attmepted and made?

I do know that the Lakers franchise record is 23 made set by Kobe, he has a good shot at breaking that one aswell.

It's because of the new rules, everyone is getting to the line

i'm pretty sure wilt holds the records for both, for a season.

Since people used to hack a wilt back in the day to stop him from dominating. :)

Not Vince Carter. He's even more of a crappy jump shooter than he used to be. His shot is less reliable and he shies away from any contact.

They also hack Bruce Bowen at times.. and Ben Wallace, and Shaq, and anyone else that struggles with free throws.

I dont blame the rules. Players should adjust and either play "cleaner" defense or be ready to suffer the consequences (like more fouls).

Most free throws made, season: Jerry West (840)
Most free throws attempted, season: Wilt Chamberlain (1,363)

Wilt also once made 835 free throws in a season while Michael Jordan made 833, good for second and third respectively. Wilt's also second in most attempts for a single season with 1,113 and perhaps not surprisingly, has attempted the most free throws in NBA history with 11,862.

(Info taken from the NBA Encyclopedia; I didn't happen to know this one offhand)

ok so in other words that's almost 17 attempts for wilt per game and a little over 10 made per game for jerry..
ok Kobe can possibly get Jerry's record, Wilt is out of the question.

Well we all play basketball or have played at sometime in our life, and you use your hands sometimes to guide you as to where the defender is going, it's not a push or anything, just a touch, well they're calling those fouls, and every team gets in bonus every quarter, it's stupid, you should allow the touch, but just don't allow mild handchecking.

playing defense with your feet is wayyyyy more effective than with your hands.. if you play with your hands you're more prone to get called for fouls and stuff like that.. this one guy that guarded me before in a game was probably the toughest defender that has ever guarded me and he barely used his hands, he just kept moving his feet and kept his body right infront of me so i couldnt drive or shoot because i had no way to create space from him whatsoever.. needless to say that was not my best game
