Awesome openings to the 2004/2005 campaigns for both these players. Wade has been the Heat's best performer so far with averages of 28.7 ppg, 6.3 rpg and 7.7 apg. KG remains one of the NBA's most well-rounded superstars with averages of 27.3 ppg, 16.7 rpg, 6.0 apg and 3.0 bpg through his first three outings.

I think Wade will have a great season, but Shaq won't stay quiet for too long. His scoring might drop once Shaq starts taking more shots but I don't think he'll fade into a sophomore slump.

His numbers weren't that good though, Boozer was the one averaging 23-12-3 I think it was, maybe more rebounds.

Shaq has been injured, that's why he hasn't been taking shots.

...but I saw the sohpomore slump part, and this is interesting because mot of the top rookies don't normally have a sophomore slump, but it's a widely used term.

Good point, though Melo has been kind of average so far. I guess it's an overused and perhaps melodramatic term, but some players have kind of dropped off in their second year (or at least suffered some sort of misfortune during their sophomore campaign) before bouncing back in year three and beyond, so I guess it's become traditional to watch guys who have great rookie seasons to see if they follow up with a down season or turn out to be fairly disappointing.

i think the sophomore slump applies more to overachieving rookies rather than the top notch ones
