consensus on grant hill

Postby j.23 on Mon Oct 25, 2004 1:19 pm

ok boys, predictions on grant hill this upcoming season?

i'm praying this year IS the year.. injury free, 18-5-5 season hopefully
this man has worked so hard the last 3 years getting surgeries on his ankle, rehabbing it, getting another surgery, rehabbing etc.. it's just a testament to how much he truly loves the game.

having said that, seeing how he pulled off a 20-6-5 in one of the preseason games i can only pray good things coming from him this season.. what i like about hill is that he's pretty efficient, he doesn't need to jack up 30 shots to get 20 points or whatever.. and unlike a lot of people who are way passed their prime, he's willing to accept the role of 2nd fiddle for the benefit of the team (ala scottie pippen)

i'm gonna hop on the magic bandwagon this year :D go magic.

14-6-5

I dont expect a great deal out of him, but i think he will make it through the whole season, and he will put up some decent numbers

I have faith :proud:

Wormy's sounds pretty good.. but i think he'll get 14-7-6. 14 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists per game. I wouldnt be suprised at all if grant hill ends up running the team from the small forward, allowing franchise to focus on scoring more.

agreed with those projections. maybe even less because of his minutes are being monitored

he'll probably not see enough shot attempts to average over 15pts with franchise, mom's, and the rook taking most of the shots

How did Hill play in that game? Was it actually a good game or was it all 3 point plays and junk?

I personally think if they use the offense WITH Hill, he can get back to his old stats. I think he was really serious when he said he would retire if he didn't get back to the way he was.

if your talking about smith... he stepped up with some mid-rangers and long balls when davis couldn't return because of his injury.

Unfortunatly i am predicting this as well. I have lost a bit of confidence now days when it comes to Hill. I dont believe he will last injury free this season.

I think all those are a bit high. I know he used to be a great player but he hasn't played in a long time. Also he won't be playing very physically considering the fact that getting injured this season would mean his career is probably over.

He is also the 4th scoring option on the team after Francis, Mobley and Howard. Plus he also has Hedo Turkoglu fighting for minutes behind him.

I can't see him getting too many rebounds seeing as he probably doesn't want his body to take a beating fighting for rebounds.

I say around 11.5 PPG, 5 RPG and 4 APG.

If he can stay healthy and put up those numbers then next season he should be an outstanding player again.

Hill can contribute in setting up plays and stuff like that. Don't expect to score much because of their team, Hill will get his nights where they run plays for him and other games he will need to pass the ball.

They got Frranchise and Cat and also Howard... depending on matchups a different go-to-guy will prob be used each game for Orlando.

As the guy before mentioned, Hedo is going for minutes, so this really means that Hill won't average too high.

About him getting injured... let's just hope he doesn't- I learnet its not too nice to say someone will get injured.... lol

12, 5, 4 for Hill from me!

i would go to hill before i'd go to mobley.. he proved 2 seasons ago, despite the layoff that he was a very efficient scorer .. shot 48% from the field and he knows how to get to the line.. there was one game where he went 17-17 from the stripe. i like mobley but he's really streaky, when he's cold you don't even want him near your team

I think Hill can easily average 15 a game this season, even with Mobley and Francis (and Hedo lurking) sucking in shots like spunges! After all, 15 points is just 5 field goals and 5 free throws...

It depends on the team... how much can orlando average?

If Franchise averages: 22 ppg, Cat: 18 ppg, Howard: 15 ppg, Battie: 10ppg, Hill: 15 ppg, Hedo: 8 ppg... thats about 88 ppg... i reakon tyhats reasonable.... but- I think Hill can only average 12 ppg... theres a chance we're all wrong and he is a freak and comes into season and gets 30 ppg...

lol i wouldnt go that far and say 30 ppg, but your other predictions seem fairly accurate.. i don't see cat averaging 18 though, maybe 16-17.. and i don't see battie averaging double figures, he didn't score that much for boston did he?

I wonder if he'll make the all-star team seeing how in two of the seasons he was injured he was voted in and it seemes like everybody really likes him and is rooting for him to do good. He is one of my favorite players.

If Grant can last the whole season and be anywhere close to his former self,he's gonna be the main option.

I see 20-7-5 :D
thats if he's himself(not the injury grant hill)

hmm, a half assed Hill is still better for this team than Hedo. Hill just wants to play and I'm sure he can still score and do all the stuff he was doing before, just not on the same level.

You forgot that they want to get Howard as much touches as possible.
