At least Shaq didn't get on the first team this year, though he still got 10 votes and made the second team. I don't know how. For a guy who mumbles, swears and is at times surly towards or completely ignores the media, they don't seem to mind him.

I think they vote for him because he's friendly. Thus he's got personality while he's talking to the media. Look at the comments made by Garnett about Shaq, I posted it in some other topic. He's apparently very friendly etc etc, he's got a sense of humor. Sure, he mumbles, but it's always that way.

Plus, he's the best Center in the league, people would rather interview him compared to some of the other centers in the league.

But I agree, I dont totally comprehend how he keeps making the team. :P

He does indeed have a friendlier side, a "goofy" side that can be quite entertaining. It's just that in recent years, he's come off as being a little more surly in some interviews, not quite as accessible as he was earlier in his career. Then again, I'm not a sports journalist who's interviewed him, I'm just going by what I've read.

True, there was a period he was pissing me off. But the last few games, I've seen his brief interviews with the reporters and all, he seems to be doing ok again. Shaq starts making stupid, rude comments when he feels the need to stir up some stuff.

Did you hear the interview after game 3 with Craig Sager?
He asked what was going on with him and Kobe only had 8 points combined in the first half, his respond:
"We want him to be a little more aggresive, and Ive been telling guys all year to just dump me the ball, thats a horrible suit you got on to.....its horrible"

Sagers respond: :?

What do you mean Seb? What's wrong with my response? :?:

Edit:
Oh, I apologise, I misunderstood, my name's Sagar, so sorry. I thought you directed the " :? " towards me.

"One lucky shot deserves another." That could become a saying that will be used forever.
