Trades that COULD have happened

Postby Fresh8 on Sun Feb 29, 2004 12:32 am

Wat do u guys think? Should Toronto have traded Vince Carter away?

And should Orlando have tried to offer LA T-mac for Kobe? (Not likely)

Wat about Stevie for AI???

Was Ray Allen on the trading block? Antawn jamison/Nick Van Exel, I've heard aren't enjoying their stays at their respective clubs...could they have been traded....

And why doesn't Atlanta just trade all their players away??? (If they don't get anyone decent next summer...they're stuffed!)

I wanna hear ur opinions about trades that could have happened....

Vince, AI, and Tmac are all worth more than their contracts to their teams, remember the NBA is a business.

If they were going to trade any of those guys, they'd have to get back a Vince, AI, Tmac, Shaq, Lebron, Melo etc kinda player that would bring in revenues.

Yeah, I was just about to say that. Vince will never get traded because he fills the seats...

So filling seats is more important then winning games? ofcourse Vince can be traded if the Raptors want someone else to lead them to victories

You don't understand the MLSE, they are extremely cheap, they don't even want to sign good free agents b/c of money.

They'll kep Carter till he stops making them money, or they find another source of large revenue, Bosh maybe, or trading him for a guy like that.

As much as these guys want to win, they don't wanna lose money either, so yes to them filling seats can be more important.

Well, take a look at New Jersey and you'll understand what I mean and lemme put it in the simplest terms ol' Mighty Laker Fan:

Nets Win, Fans Don't show up, Franchise Loses Money, Has to move to Brooklyn...

Was that simple enough for you?

That is not a reason not to trade Carter, there are players out there who can fill seats and bring in success Ol mighty Raptors fan  , if you think that Carter is the only one who can entertain people, then you are WRONG!!!, Im sorry I made you angry, I understand you

Please guys, try to stay on topic and refrain from making the discussion personal. Thanks. :)

As Nick said, all of those trades would have been blockbusters. I'm not sure any of those deals would be necessary though. Toronto, Orlando and Houston might have been better off as a result of making those trades, though the Lakers, Sixers and Bucks (I'm assuming the Allen for Carter swap would have taken place prior to last season) would probably be the same or slightly worse.
