i had this too and i played it a ton even after the season was over but my biggest issue was no free agency and no grizzlies/raptors and '96 rookies. but still a fun game. i loved turboing into guys and shoving them across the screen

Why would it have 1996 rookies? It came out during the 1994-95 season.

NBA Live 96, on the other hand, did feature both as you would expect.

On the console versions they didn't have the rosters for them though and you had to enter names into the create player to get the rookies. I assume it was a workaround they did due to the lockout that year.

I'd say so too. The PC version came out a little later and didn't include the expansion draft feature, but had the rookies and more up to date rosters out of the box.

Nothing, I'm holding onto it. ;)

It certainly does look better on PC and of course we were able to patch it, which pretty much started this whole community. However, the console version did have one distinct advantage over the PC version: it had a steal button, whereas with the PC version you just had to get close to the opponent and your player automatically tried to steal the ball. It wouldn't be until NBA Live 98 that the PC version's controls featured a steal button.

I still have the cd-rom but haven't been able to find the box or manual. Same with '96 and '97 for the PC. The CD-rom graphics for the player pages and game title screens (as featured on the back of the box in the OP) were great and as already mentioned, the rosters had rookies and you could download roster updates from the original NLSC website.

Back in the mid-90s the PC versions were incredibly superior, especially with all the customized rosters you could find online.
