Need Help With DX7Z.dll

Sat May 13, 2006 5:57 am

Hi, Can anyone help me with the dx7z.dll issue? I've got DirectX 8 installed, so that's not the issue. I've got Tiger Woods 2001 installed, and that uses a dx7z.dll file with no problem. What's wrong with my NBA Live? It gets to the startup screen, acts like the game's gonna begin, and kicks back to the desktop. Would anyone be willing to send me a copy of their dx7z.dll file, to see if that's the problem? My email address is kc0lcs04@yahoo.com. Thanks.
Nathan

As I already told you in another other thread ( http://www.nbaliveforums.com/ftopic38031.php&highlight= ):

1) Don't post this question more than once.
2) If you have a legal version of the game, you should be able to reinstall (or just copy that file) from the CD

First off, I posted it in both places because I (1) have requested a copy of the files, and (2) this is a patching issue.
Second of all, the file from the CD doesn't work. Otherwise it'd be okay. And it's not pirated or anything, unless they have the NBA Live 2001 label on them and everything. I installed the game, got the error when I try to start it. Tiger Woods 2001 uses the same file (dx7z.dll) with no problems...so what's the issue with NBA Live? Why does it cause NBAWIN.exe to quit?

Actually it's neither a patch request nor a patching issue ;)

Now that I think about it, I believe there might be a problem with Live 2001 and Windows XP? I remember hearing some buzz about that. Could be wrong.

Well it works for me. NBA Live 2001 I mean. Are you sure your cd isn't corrupted?

I'm running Windows 98, so that's not the issue. I've read people saying that you should upgrade to DirectX 8, and that it was apparent that they were running DX 7 because of the "dx7z.dll" file. However, that's not true. I'm running DX 8, and in my CD it contains the dx7z.dll file...so does Tiger Woods 2001. I don't think I have a corrupted CD, unless that's how it came from EA Sports. Mine can't be pirated since it has the NBA Live '01 label on it, and it came with the code and everything.

Corrupted CD = scratched CD? Try installing DX8 from a different source, dowload it on Microsoft's website, and not from your CD.
