Please help me with installing patches!

Postby Robert Jan on Tue May 03, 2005 9:57 pm

I've tried many times to install cyberfaces, jerseys, courts and menu arts for NBA Live 2000, but the don't seem to work. I've made a full (custom) install of the game. Unzipped the patches to the main folder. Unzipped blotch, eapatch and gfxpak to the main folder. But what should I do now? Please help me![/i]

When you do a "full" install, what do you mean? Because you have to check off each individual checkbox in all the sections- you'll see them on the right-hand side, I believe. Did you do this? Because you've done everything else right, so far as I can tell- I suggest to reinstall the game and just make sure you go slow, and check everything. (Y)

Yes I mean that 'full' install. But what I want to know is what I must do with those patches and .exe files. In a patch are a .bat file, some .bin files and some .fsh files. I know that if you click the .bat file he puts the other files in the right directory, but what do I have to do with the .exe files (blotch, eapatch and gfxpak)?

And do the patches work with the 2004/2005 roster I've downloaded? And I know that the cyberfaces dissapear when you install the new roster, so that's not what I've done wrong.

Maybe you can give some step-by-step guide for me

PS. I'm from the Netherlands so maybe is my english not so good :P

I think I get it now, but can you please tell me why I need blotch, eapatch and gfxpak and how I use them?

No, your english is fine, Robert Jan. (Y)

OK, here's my advice:

 You already have blotch, eapatch and gfxpak in your main folder. That's good. All you have to do is run the files once (double click), and then you'll never need to mess with them again. Just leave them in the main folder- that's very important.

 Next, for each cyberface that you want to install, unzip them to the main folder as well, like you said above, and then run/double-click the .bat file. A black window will come up (like DOS), and you'll see it updating the player. Some take longer than others, but I've never seen one run for longer than 10-15 seconds. And just like blotch, eapatch, and gfxpak, just leave everything in your main folder.

 It's done! Run Live 2000, and you'll notice the player is updated

Tell me if you have success...

I've done it exactly as you said, but it didn't work. No cyberfaces, no jerseys, no courts, no nothing. Must have done something wrong. Can it has to do with the roster I've installed?

About cyberfaces, once you've installed it (by double clicking on the bat file) you have to re-load the roster

And check Alexsite's FAQ, there's an answer about your "disappearing cyberface" problem when you install my roster :)

I've checked Alexsite before, but I first install the roster first, and after that the cyberfaces, jerseys etc.

I've done a new install, and tried the patches. Now some of them work (for example the ingame scorebord and the spurs menu picture) and some don't (other menu pictures, jerseys). Is this normal?

Do the cyberfaces work now?

Also, it's best to install the cyberfaces after you do the roster.

By the way, when you click on the .bat file of a cyberface update, does it say something like (use Jason Terry for example)...

Terry, Jason: Found 11 players in 10 files

...before the black window closes? Or does it just quickly open and close so fast that you can't read anything?

I've installed the cyberfaces after I've installed the roster, and yes, it does show things like:

Pierce, Paul: Found 3 players in 3 files

OK that's good. Are they working though? Can you view the players in Edit Player, and play games with the players who you installed the cyberfaces for without your game crashing?

Nope, they're not working. But I've made the switch to NBA Live 2005. 8-) I (personally) think it's a much cooler game. Thanks to all who tried to help me with my NBA Live 2000 patching problems (Y)

Now... I know I'm responding to a really old post... but, I think you will understand.

The reason some of the patches have not been working properly is due to a syntax error in the batch files (those ending in .BAT). The main command of the batch file looks like this:

gfxpak -p art\ingame\teams\teamdata.viv gocrt.fsh

However, some of the .BAT files are erroneously written like this:

eapatch art\ingame\teams\teamdata.viv gocrt.fsh

Just right-click on the file in windows explorer, click on EDIT, and change "eapatch" to "gfxpak -p" for the ones that do not work.

As always, keep NBA Live 2000 alive, because it's still the best (followed closely by 2005).

if you're using Yao Ming patchs available on Alexsite, they may not work with my roster, because in my roster he's listed as "Ming Yao" (so when you play against or with him "Yao" appears on his jersey")

If that's the case, open the bat file with notepad and change the following:

blotch00 saves Ming, Yao

to:

blotch00 saves Yao,Ming

close and save, launch again the bat file, go in the game, reload your roster, voila, it's ready :)

I cant begin to tell you how many times i tried all the options above, and i cant get nothing installed but only the new roster for '05-06. I was told the college files to nba live 2000 works, and not only have i tried those , but ive also tried the nba files with gfxpak, blootch file, and eagraph file all installed in the nba live main directory. All my bat files seen to work because the black box says they are all installed, but when i play the game, there isnt nothing installed or going except the new roster.I tried the old roster to and no go.Can someone help me get this straightened out? (Ive uninstalled nba live 2000 dozens of times and re-installed it in full custom mode with all files checked, so i know thats not it)...

Never knew the DOS window would one day be called the "black box".
Have you read the patch instructions/readme?

Ive heard dos window since the early 80's, its time for a change :D

Ive read the patch instructions a thousand times,i can install them automatically or just put the files in the respected folders and still no go.Ive even went to the point of renaming the files using eagraph editor and it shows up on the editor they are done but when i install them, they dont work.Ive used some pointers from some earlier posts and they dont work either.

Did you install the game using the option FULL INSTALL? If I remember correctly the installation process' default is the Normal Install or something like that which only installs some files to the HD while others remain on the CD for the game to access.

Ok heres the deal, ive tried re-installing nba live 2000 for the last 4 days now, and using the gfx, eafile, and blotch file in the main directory to install all my files to there respected folders using bat.files, and i do not accomplish nothing, ive tried to look up my dos window after installing the bat file to see if there is anything that will support and error under the title easports, and its as it should be and installing, but there are nothing in the folders and there is nothing different with the game when i play it.Ive tried it all with the nba live 2000 files and the college files and i cant get nothing installed right. When i re-installed nba live 2000 i made sure it was in full install mode and all the boxes (main and inside boxes) are checked.Ive also re-installed gfx, ea patch, and blotch files again and im getting the same thing...Nothing!!

Ive read all the alternate options through faq all the websites and tried them all and no go.Im going to try a different alternative..Is there anyone out there that knows where all the files go in the folders so i can put them in there manually?Preferably the college files :D

HURRAY!!! I finally got it working :D

I found out that most of the files that were suppose to work were not completed and not ready for installation in which they were free to the public to download,so i edited the files with all the details and im ready to go in college mode with no crashes :D

Thanks for the help anyway joey jojo, i appreciate the responses you posted. :)
