OK dude, cool. We're grown up. There's no point in dragging it on. If you're trying to get people informed and prepared - that's alright with me. (Y)
If I came up as a douche, sorry - didn't mean to. I'm just tired of forum trolls talking like they know stuff about tech when, in reality, they have no idea about it whatsoever. :facepalm2:
As I said before - no offense, no bad blood. (B)

If that's about the discussion between Crazy_me_87 and myself... well... neither of us belong to 'children' group and that kind of a discussion is still more informative and on topic than comment like yours. :P :cheeky:
If it wasn't about us... move along, nothing to see here, these are not the posts you're looking for.

on my part im done discussing with RashbaNor

everythings said on my part

its useless to debate about MY Pc... thats irrelevant i will be fine :) and if not i will upgrade simple as that
nothing else to discuss

its only natural that many here are nervous if the Game will run...it can take the wind out of your "Dancing in Happiness" Sails if you suddenly think "wait.. can i even play this???"

so the discussion is valid... but we need more infos before it makes sence

its the same in Forums like Dragon Age Inquisition or Ac:U its just speculation

we just dont know what the game needs to run at what settings

so less panic... more enjoying the day we finally get next gen! :D

A 3.4GHz C2Q CPU paired with a 7970 will get an average FPS of 45 and minimum 26 on Low settings on Crysis 3. At Very High it gets ~27 FPS at average and 18 at minimum. Unless NVIDIA has a insane advantage over AMD on Crysis 3 I don't understand how you would be get 45 FPS on Very High when a 7970 that is on par with a GTX 680 will get below-30FPS performance with your CPU. Watch Dogs was made for and optimized for NVIDIA so I understand you running the game fluently. The problem here is that your recommendations may lead to someone on the forums buying a similar setup and regretting it when they see the performance is less than expected.

One thing you do have right is that waiting for the game to come out is the best thing for anyone to do unless they are willing and have the budget to buy a good and put together a good PC already.

If NBA 2K15 ends up being a CPU-bottle necked/intensive game like Crysis 3, AC IV, Watch Dogs, etc a Core 2 Quad will probably not cut it for a High-Very High Settings. AC Unity looks much better than AC IV so unless the game is optimized well I fear that a 2nd Gen i5/i7 will almost be necessary to get 60+ FPS on Max settings.

I'm worried about my rig too. Excluding my gaming laptop that has an i7 Quad Core with an OCed GT 650M (DDR3, yuck) all my other desktops are AMD CPU based. I'm regretting basing my recent desktop on AMD's FM2+ APU platform. With little chance of the newer CPU (Carrizo) coming out for my motherboard socket and less chance of a 6+ Core CPU/APU coming out I may have built the computer on a soon to be dead platform. The simplest choice would to build a X99 or X79 based PC but I'm not made of money. I can't wait for the specs to be released and maybe a demo to see how it runs on Windows. I' almost lost hope for Next-Gen on PC but I'm relieved it's coming soon. Too many exciting games releasing in the near future.

You're 100% on spot here but Crazy_me takes this thing very subjectively and personal so I guess there's no point in pursuing this issue anymore. Let's just hope that whoever reads all of this will be able to draw the right conclusion.

Does this mean the PC patches that get released won't be delayed and stupid crap like that? Is the PC version now JUST as important (if not more) as the consoles? I sure hope so.

look guys...

i am a bit pissed because you are basically implying im lying or "telling bull****" am i not allowed to be upset at that?

Only i know what my PC can do... and you come out and go "no your PC cant do that"

its a bit annoying... i played all those games had fraps running and it told me ,.. "hey this game runs at 50fps" ... and oh well my settings are Maxed out...
is that my fault now?? or should i assume Fraps is lying to me??

also i did quite some research.. there are many Videos on Youtube that show Crysis 3,Battlefield 4.. on maxed out settings with even Weaker PCs than mine.. wont believe me?

Two of BF4 with comparable Rigs than mine on Ultra

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnCNcasH1jI&hd=1

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uPOG-E9yf4&hd=1

and a Crysis 3 on High with a bit worse CPU than mine

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCcne6wBeF0&hd=1

just because someone else says "this Pc cant run that".. isnt the be all/end all... Especcially our It Expert in this discussion should know that a huge Part of a PCs performance hinges on how well its optimized,if its "clean" and if the User takes care of it

so what are you expecting me to do? assume that my PC is some kind of miracle? some PC-Mutation? i just did what anyone would have done and thought of himself as the average Consumer

how am i supposed to know that my PC seems to be some kind of PC-Superhero^^

Very mature response, especially after I've buried the hatched and apologized. Very mature indeed. ;)

Anyways... Don't worry guys, I'm 100% certain that NBA 2k15 won't be the PC overkill, the ultimate benchmark, GPU killer. So if you're able to run 1-2 years old games in decent framerates you should be OK.
I'm just hoping Nvidia will be ready with a SLI profile on release day. :D

Now that it is announced to be next-gen, I'm about to buy a new computer. And I need help to choose one to be able to max the graphics out. Could anyone help me with this? :) I'll write it from the cheapest to the most expensive, it would be great if someone could comment every computer. Oh, by the way, all of them are desk computers, not laptops.

I would use it for NBA 2K mainly only, but it would be great if someone could say if any of those could run GTA V on Medium or High.

1. AMD Athlon X4 740 Quad Core + Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 256bit + 4GB DDR3 1600MHz + 1TB 7200 RPM
2. AMD Athlon X4 740 Quad Core + Radeon R7 260X 2GB GDDR5 256bit + 8GB DDR3 1333MHz + 1TB 7200 RPM
3. AMD Athlon X4 740 Quad Core + Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 256bit + 8GB DDR3 1600MHz + 1TB 7200 RPM
4. Intel Core i5-4440 Quad Core + Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 256bit + 8Gb DDR3 1600MHz + 1TB 7200 RPM
5. Intel Core i5-4460 Quad Core + GeForce GTX760 2GB GDDR5 256bit + 8Gb DDR3 1600MHz + 2TB 7200 RPM
6. AMD A8-5600K Quad Core + GeForce GTX760 2GB GDDR5 256bit + 8GB DDR3 1600MHz with Cooler + 1TB 7200 RPM + 120GB SSD 450 MB/s

If I were Nvidia I would be helping 2K optimize it and even try and get them to include nvidia exclusive tech because they're not in the consoles anymore. They need AAA PC games, and lots of them to stay competitive.

Would also like to see Mantle support.

Just a reminder for guys who may not know this, if you go to buy a new nVidia card that the second number is more important than the first.

For example a GTX 680 is more powerful than a GTX 750.

Remember this when buying a new card.

Mantle is too problematic. It's a different rendering API so it wouldn't be cost effective for 2K to implement it and for AMD to pay for such implementation. NBA 2k PC is still too niche for such a investment. :(
But I agree with you on Nvidia thing. They should be much more aggressive on PC market. Driver optimizations, SLI profile, 3D profile - that can and should be done, if only to show games their commitment.

crazy_me_87 wrote:Especcially our It Expert in this discussion should know that a huge Part of a PCs performance hinges on how well its optimized,if its "clean" and if the User takes care of it

PC build can't be optimized in any way. Hardware is hardware. It can be messed up by bad assembly or wrong/old drivers but that doesn't degrade performance as much as causes problems like CTDs, freezes, boot up issues etc. What can be optimized is software. Software can be optimized for your PC, not the other way around. So no, there is no 'huge part of PC performance that hinges on how well the PC is optimized'.
But feel free to explain your PC optimizations so they could be utilized by the rest of PC users all around the globe. (a joke, don't be offended) ;)

good point but i would add some caution because its only aplies between Card that arent too far apart in "generation" and release

so you cant buy an GTX 470 and hope that its better than a GTX 760 because the second digit was higher so thats no no matter what-criteria

it would apply if its just one generation apart like columbusbobby23 said correctly

also for anyone who wants to upgrade his GPU... it can be wise to look for the model with more GB .. a Card with 2 or 3 GB Ram will handle especcially future games probably quite better than one with 512MB or 1GB

Ok my bad i really overread them somewhat in "the heat of battle" yeah you seemed quite arrogant.. and i react very allergic to arrogance.. but i was angry too quick on my part so a offer you my apologie in return! :)

ok as someone who knows PCs... now that we cooled down.. do you have any idea why my PC might run things he isnt supposed to?
if its hard for you to take my word for it,just assume for a moment that it runs this games exactly as i said its a serious question i would love to know :)

I have to disagree with you on the driver Part.. especcially Watch dogs was night and day Performance wise after i isntalled the new drivers!! before the new Drivers it stuttered around 15fps after that shot right up to 40.... again just MY experience.. has not to be true for anyone else!

Dunno... magic which bends physics?
But seriously. You should benchmark those games properly to check your average fps. FRAPs is kinda crappy, it's old and a little unreliable. I don't use it anymore, I'm a big supporter of DXtory. But still, those gameplay recording tools are not benchmark apps.
Or maybe you set up your ForceWare driver so it forces some calculation intensive features off? Or maybe GeForce Experience sets the settings for you? Dunno... but your 6 yo CPU and mid-end GPU is not enough to run Crysis 3 on really high settings. I've got 3790X with two Titans and it sometimes dips below 60 fps in Battlefield 4 @ real ultra settings. :?

Watch_Dogs is a huge pile of turd when it comes to optimization. It was saved by GPU manufacturers preparing special drivers and by modders who did a hell of a job upgrading the game visuals at almost no performance cost. It's a perfect example of how publisher can shamelessly disregard gamers and still sell the product.

crazy_me_87 wrote:I have to disagree with you on the driver Part.. especcially Watch dogs was night and day Performance wise after i isntalled the new drivers!! before the new Drivers it stuttered around 15fps after that shot right up to 40.... again just MY experience.. has not to be true for anyone else!

I would be really pleased if you would trust me that after 20 years of Gaming i know what runs smooth and what does not...so fraps or not i know it runs on my rig on max settings... so it has to be the magic-physics bending Pc.. :D

I wouldnt mind Benchmarking these games proberly!! besides Dxtory do you have any recommendation what to use for "proper bencharking" ?

i have V-Sync off by default because it takes alot of FPS for little effect.. and i play in 1280x1024 maybe my "ancient" resolution could be the difference here...

agreed on Watch dogs.. i mean it looks great if it runs... but right out of the Box..without new drivers, day one patch and some community performance mods... it was unplayable..

My point about Watch Dogs was.. know some people who have high end gaming PCs.. they really dont optimize their System they just want to play.. and at their PCs Watch Dogs runs way worse as on mine... so The User can make alot of a difference... i know.. no one wants to hear that..not a popular thing to say..its easier to blame the Hardware... but i just know many cases where a simple defragmentation..or clearing some HD space..or dont know having an Anti Virus software and Registry Cleaner did work wonders ^^

Unfortunately when there's no proper benchmark built into the game the best way is to record gameplay without any frame drops and then analyze the footage, just like the Digital Foundry guys do. :|

That's a HUGE difference. It's almost 40% less pixels compared to today's standard - fullHD (1920x1080)!

There is no bad feelings in our comments to you. The discussion became an issue when you took the comment personally. Maybe your experience has been good, but others' have been different. The only specs you posted was your CPU, RAM, GPU. With that information I looked up other sources to see different results, which is why I posted that your experience may not be the same with others. Resolution is important. Maybe you're running the games at 720P or even lower Resolutions. You failed to mention you were running slower DDR2 RAM. Which is harder to find and more expensive than DDR3. There are lots of Youtube videos that have people playing games at max settings yet their resolution is at 800 x 600 or 1024 x 720. Playing Max settings at low resolutions vs 1080p is a whole different thing. GPU, CPU, and RAM are the big three in gaming. SSD is good for load times but they will do little for FPS.

Your argument did not help you much at all.

"Its safe to say that this game will "only" be needing hardware about as powerfull as a PS4"
That's not exactly true. A PC is not a PS4 nor XB1. Their SoC is based on X86 but they are not optimized the same. Our computers are much stronger than an X360 yet some PCs did not run previous NBA 2K games well. GTA IV a console port was not optimized well so PC gamers needed better hardware to run. A PC with the same hardware as a PS4 will probably not be able to run the game at the same settings. It will be able to run at least.

i can run Watch_Dogs on High,Crysis 3 on Ultra,Battlefield 4 on Ultra,etc
i dont know if thats bad or good news for some of you who are wondering
but now you at least have an educated Guess-Benchmark

What you provided here isn't really an "educated guess" nor a "benchmark"

Dude dont tell my what my PC can and cannot do there is one person who knows that and thats me^^

Can't a person tell you that your experiences may be unlikely by seeing similar builds performing far worse? Your implying you know best of your hardware when someone else could have the same hardware.

dont ask my why i can run this.. maybe its because my PC is well Optimised, clean and i take care of it very well, maybe its because i have overclocked my CPU to 3.5 ghz and have enhanced my 4g Ram by assigning 32gb digital Ram on my Hard Drive
Why can't people ask how you run it? Is it a secret? Hard to explain why? There is not much optimization you can do to a PC for gaming. Make sure you have the best drivers for your GPU, nice thermal paste and cooling for your hardware, and maybe overlock and tighten the timing of your RAM. You mentioned that you ran a Core 2 Quad at 2.8GHz earlier in the thread and you all of a sudden mentioned that you OCed your CPU to 3.5GHz. How do you use 32GB of RAM to enhance your 4GB of RAM? From what I remember you have a Core 2 Quad which is a LGA 775 socket. I don't think that socket supports RAM any higher than 8GB or 16GB at the most. You are either talking about 32MB of Cache on your HDD or your talking about a 32GB SSD that you are using as cache to enhance your HDD, which would only enhance loading times.

fact is those Games run well on my PC, no matter what some "stat" says how its "supposed" to run..

These are not stats. These are benchmark numbers we provided. People made different setups of PCs to test the performance of specific hardware. My example was from Toms Hardware which probably does benchmarks much more solidly than you do. Statistics are real. If majority of benchmarkers came with different results that shows something was different in your benchmarks and settings.

whats "subjective" about fraps showing 45fps in a game? would you please tell me that??

Fraps isn't the only program available to show FPS. Fraps doesn't lie but settings do. All you mentioned was the overall settings not them individually

man whats wrong with me saying that this it how it runs on my rig?

Nothing wrong with it. We're just saying it runs differently on other's computers

and dont act like private Persons cant set up Pcs well !

I don't think he every said private or public people can't set up PCs well. But some people don't know the details. I'm not even saying I know the details. But you are marketing yourself as a private/public person that has the capability to know PCs well. While some of your comments say the opposite.

fact is it runs like that on my PC... if that bothers or irritates you because thats not how its "supposed" to be than thats your Problem...not mine
You're making it seem like your experience makes your comments fact. Your being defensive and offensive now.

maybe my Pc is a miracle.. who knows... but you make me look totally bad here while ive done nothing else then telling my experience

Your PC a Miracle? Not needed. "Who Knows" not you, not us. He did not aim to make you look bad. After you realized that some people may look negative at some of your suggestions you go offensive again.

so while you may be an expert at IT you are no expert at beeing nice dude Think about that...

Now you started calling names....

but anyways ill be the wiser head who gives in here.. theres no point in arguing with you.. i will not reply to you anymore on this topic!

You call your self the wiser person, make yourself look like the adult and the others children

The discussion and argument was not about attacking someone. You've had your experiences, we've read others. I posted the different results same with the other member of this forum. After a while you took offense to our comments and resorted to name calling (not a nice guy, arrogant, not-wise). When someone called you and the others in the argument children you tried to look like the person in harm and the others the immature ones. This is my last reply to you also. I agree that I look stupid writing this stuff on the forums but I must have my say. I apologize if this post makes you feel bad. You've apologized, I've apologized, and Rashbanor has apologized. Let's all get along now and see how the game turns out to be.

I can see Crazy and Rash has started a nice discussion. Like you belatedly mentioned you are playing on different older resolution, which is why you would be able to play at higher settings than the benchmarks I have seen. All of this could have been avoided if we all would have shared more info to begin with.

Haha.. Is this escalated. I just wanted to make my final comment and am in no way in anger. Feels like I wasted time, but oh well. Time to go look at gamescom videos.
