Steam Preload Confirmed

May sound like a silly question, but is there a way to preload if you bought through GMG, or only if you go directly through Steam? I tried entering my Key from GMG, and it said I can't for 3 more days. I'm sure if it's possible, there's something obscenely simple I'm missing.

Once they email you the key, you can just activate on Steam.

If the game shows up in the Steam client, you should have a pre-load button.

Restart Steam.

Pre-load wasn't available for me after putting in the key, but after the standard Steam fix of restarting the client, the pre-load button was there. (Along with right-click since I'm stuck in my ways from the original Steam client.)
