How to easily win domination mode - MyTeam

Domination mode is a must do if you want to challenge the upper seeds players without spending real money.Nate Archibald isn't that great, but the players you will get along will upgrade your team A LOT. Especially the last 3 teams' player packs.

I will try to explain how you do it and I will give detail about every important aspect of my strategy. After reading this, if you have any question feel free to PM me and it will be my pleasure to help you. First of all, don't think about the substitutions. I won the whole domination mode without making a sub. Your starting players won't get that tired as you think so you need 5 players. Throughout the whole domination mode my bench was full of bronze players because their contracts are cheaper.

Now, for the starting Lineup. The key players are the PF and Center spot. For Center, use a good defender, a shot blocker and a tenacious rebounder. I went with Joakim Noah but you can also use Sanders, Zach Randolph, Dwight Howard ( I didn't have Howard until I recieved the eastern all star player pack ). For the PF spot use a great post move player. I used Lamarcus Aldridge - the man is a fucking beast when it comes to fadeaway post moves. Instead of Aldridge you may use Millsap or Carmelo Anthony or Kevin Durant if you have them in your collection but for those with bad luck, Aldridge and Millsap are the best options and they go cheap on the market.

Now, this two steps are optional but important.Afer you decided who your starting PF is , go in NBA Today freestyle and practice post fadeaway moves with that player (you will see bellow why this is essential). Try to master their shoot realease, make it perfect or at least perfect. Then practice with them in Blacktop mode. There, you will have an opponent trying to defend you. Just go in the post position and hit him with fadeaways.

Don't panic if you make like 50 % of the fadeaways. You will master your player's realease by the time you play top teams in domination mode. It takes practice.

For the PG,SG and SF positions, you need good perimeter defenders and decent free throw makers. There are a lot of good players at this position and it doesn't really matter. I used Wall for PG, DeRozan for SG and Rudy Gay for SF. All of them are cheap and are good defenders. The thing is, you need a player who you can make 3pt with, someone you can trust.(DeRozan was the guy for me). I will explain bellow why.

After deciding what your 5 starter players are, you are ready to play domination mode. Set your Substitution and Points of Emphasis to manual. You won't substitute any player the whole game. For offensive points of emphasis use : Feed the post, Average Tempo, Crash Offensive Glass. For defensive PoE use: Limit Perimeter Shots, Play phisical defense, Crash Defensive Glass.

Defensive Strategy: The only way I lost in domination mode was because the opponents where cheesing the 3pt shots. That's why you have to limit perimeter buckets (they might hit a few 3pters anyway but it won't affect you that much) . They will try to take the ball inside but they can't make more than 50% of their attempts there when your defending center can't wait to block some shots or contest them. Understand that the game is scripted sometimes and they might hit you with some crazy layups or outside shots, but it won't be enough to keep up with your offense(which I will talk about in the next paragraph). This year, the AI defensive play is improved and they play decent defense. You won't have to switch between your players to play on-ball defense. I usually switch for the player who has the lowest-rated matchup and play defense only with him. Your teammates will play their defense. The PF and Center will block some shots sometimes and rebound a lot. Your other three players might steal the ball. If you see one player holding the ball at the last seconds of the shot clock, hit him with a double team because he might cheese some move and make the bucket. So, as a summary, pick the matchup with the lowest rating and let your teammates do their work ( trust me, they will even against the last 3 teams).

For the following section, when I talk about VC I mean My Team Points. It is easier for me to use two letters instead of 12

Offensive Strategy ( I wil try to keep it as short as possible) : First of all, try to hit a 3pter in the first minutes. You have to make it right from the start. If you make it (and it is very important to make that shot), don't attempt any 3pointer for the rest of the game because at this moment, your 3pt % is 1/1 -> 100 %. Why is this important ? Because you get 100 VC for 100 % 3pt percentage. Based on the same ideea, try to make your Freethrows. 100 VC for 100 % Freethrows made.
The key word in offense is assist. Try to assist every shot. Run fast breaks only if you are good at it and assist the lay-up/dunk. You will get 2 VC for made shot, 4 VC for assist, 4 VC for fast break and 2/3 VC for the layup or the dunk. But the most effective method to get that VC you need at the end of the game are those post moves you practiced before the game. If you are not on fast break don't hurry. Take the ball in their half of the court and try to get closer to the rim without having to iso-dribble your way there. Press the left d-pad button (The one that bring the screen with the option to quick isolate your player, have a player to post up, get a player open and so on). After you bring up this menu, choose the option which posts up a teammate. The player with the highest post ratings will post up. Hit him with the pass and then do the fadeaway moves you practiced. You have to make those shots for VC and points deficit so you can win the game.. If you make the shot you will get 4 VC for assist, 5 VC for post moves , 2 VC for made shot. That 5 VC for post move is the highest amount of VC you can get for any play. I spammed those moves and I usually got like 50 points with Aldridge-the-fucking-beast. As you have probably figured it out, that's a lot of VC comming at the end of the game.

Further tips :

- If a player gets injured during the game I suggest you quit that match and play it a gain with a good substitute. Aldridge got injured for about 6 games and Millsap was a good backup.

- If you miss that 3pteir, keep playing if you have to get less then 750 VC at the end of the game. If you have to get more, just quit the game and try again. Don't worry about contracts, you will have enough VC to buy those.

- Using that post move method I explained above, you won't get fouled that often. You might get fouled intentionally in the 4th quarter if the game is close, but usually there will be a 15 points + deficit between you and your opponent if you play the way I did. Try to draw fouls doing fastbreakes. If no FT where attempted, you will get 0 VC for FT%

-Again, use fast breakes only if you are good at it and have the spacing right. If not, stick to the post moves and use the fast break only to get that foul.

-Offensive rebounds are great. If you get an offenive rebound, quickly lay the ball inside the basket. It's 6 VC for rebounding, 2 VC for layup and 2 VC for made shot.

-Get ready for some defending. I have noticed that the opposing CPU usually passes the ball to the guy you have your matchup on. That's why I suggested to have the lowest rated matchup, so you can defend easier. Make him miss his shots right from the start and then he will get colder and colder. It will be a piece of cake to defend him, he will miss wide open shots.

If you follow these steps you will easily get between 800-950 VC at the end of the game. You don't need expensive players, you need the right players and right moves.

Sorry if I have any grammar or spelling mistakes. I woke up 15 minutes ago.

If you have any questions or you don't understant a part, feel free to pm me. Good luck winning domination mode !

I had subs set on auto but might have to change to manual to get through it. Will try a couple of the tips, especially with hitting an early 3 then shutting up shop from downtown.

Yes, I definitely recommend the free throw and 3 point percentages to be up. I scored around 80 points per game, and by that time I already had enough points, but its good if you are leading by more than 10 points to assure you beat that domination level.

And actually you can only get 75 at most from the 3-point field goal because 2k prevented from making that OP

I would recommend assist and layup rather than post moves because:

Sometimes you don't get assist with post move: 2+5=7, rather than 2+4+2=8.

It is way faster than waiting for the perfect spot for your big man, so you can get 2 layups by that time.

Never noticed the 75 part. You are right, people should aim for 70-80 points game. To get the assist with the post moves, you have to start shooting the ball in the first 2-3 seconds after the post player recieved the ball

Chambers (you get him from challenge mode) is enough for post fadeway abuse in domination. He god gold volume shooter and goes off with making them all the time, you can also dunk with him easily when post fade stops working. For later challenges add another post up beast like millsap, z.randolph to get him off the bench when chambers tired. This way of swapping 2 post fadeway "abusers" I've got over 900 MT points in last 4 challenges (1100 MT my record there from single game). Also call timeouts when you're losing momentum a bit.
