Expected Winner

I wonder how the game determines expected winner. In this franchise I am the Bulls with MJ added. I let the games play CPU v CPU. The expected winner for Bulls vs Golden State was Golden State. Bulls won by 32.

Probably takes the sumproduct of the overall player skill rating and the minutes played, churns out stats, and then adds up total points for each team.

I have to say, they must have statisticians employed at 2k because this stuff is not easy to do. We gamers complain about everything and if the simmed cpu churns out unrealistic stats or if a weaker team beats a stronger one regularly, we call bullshit on it. So much work went into this game (and every bball game that has lead to it too.)

It's a nice feature, and a lot of work went into this game. But sometimes the expected winner is wrong by a wide margin. Maybe taking into account game results would help improve the accuracy as the season progresses. That's especially important in played games.

I noticed that in "mycareer", the game smooths out the scoring and stats so that the final score is realistic. I play 12 minute quarters and probably am on the court 35 of the 48 minutes. When I'm sitting, the game fast forwards and sims whatever stats happen. But I always notice that almost no points get added on to the score even though I've been sitting for 5 minutes or so in game-time. This must be because the cpu does not want the final score to be in the 150 to 160 range, which it would be if I played the entire 48 minutes. Anyone else notice that?

As video gamers, I'm sure we take a lot more shots early in the shot clock and also allow a lot more quick open shots by the cpu which results in more shots = higher score than real nba. And I think the cpu tries to adjust for that during the sim periods.

without a doubt gamers are superior to the CPU, i always have scores of at least 130 usually 150+ if im a starter in mycareer cuz we take the first open shot, the CPU will pass up open 3's early in the shot clock no idea why if i play bad D why not take advantage i couldnt say dum CPU i guess but ive noticed they pass up open shots to try and get closer to the rim regularly. also we play at a much higher pace i doubt a gamer would just walk the ball down the court calmly we usuaally sprint and try and catch someone off guard the cpu doesnt hes calm he runs a play takes a good 15-20 sec off the clock players take maybe 5-15 sec before chuck something up

Unless you're Ray Allen type of shooter or you already have bigs in position for rebound you would find your coach pulling you out very quickly if you were taking such shots. So that might be why.
