Adjusting RULES

I can't seem to find where to adjust/change the rules. For example if I want to change to no fouling out. Has anyone found where the rules are?

It is looking like those options aren't available this year.

No rules option this year, so if you don't play 12 min quarters (which I guess goes for the majority) you can just spam steal attempts. If you commit a foul it doesn't really matter. That's why I'm saying that despite this being a very good looking basketball game (courts excluded), it's been dumbed down way too much and a lot of options have been removed.

I guess we can thank Sony and Microsoft for that. Also fewer options = less testing. For people who haven't bought this game yet, I'd recommend them to wait for a considerable price drop.

thanks for the replies guys. I just find it pathetic that they take this option out FOR WHAT REASON. I mean the gameplay is so far the best I've seen in terms of realism WHY TAKE THIS OPTION OUT and not spoil it, but it could have been an almost perfect game. They took out the playoff option too for no reason.

I disagree that the gameplay is so far the best in terms of realism. Defense is very undermined in this year's game compared to 2k14. In 2K14 you could really make the opponent's life miserable with intense D, and you really felt the intensity like in real life basketball. Intense D also had the right balance of risk/reward because the opponent would have a hard time shooting in front of you but he was able to go through you with an explosive 1st step and then you had to use your help defense and rotate effectively if you wanted to avoid a close basket.

This year players move like trucks and defense is narrowed down to just stay in front of your defender and hope that the distance is right for him to possibly miss a shot. You might even play him tight, jump during the right time and he might still make the shot like all players are Michael Jordan. I tried fixing this by setting different slider values but the game would either become way too easy or way too hard (as in CPU making every contested shot). Spacing is also ridiculous with everything being very narrow. Also in 2k15, there is almost no risk in attempting a steal, so I find myself spamming the steal button trying to steal the ball, as if I foul there's no real risk. I don't know if you guys have noticed, but if a forward / center is protecting the ball (not while dribbling but while he holds the ball) if you press the steal button the defender always steals the ball.

What adds to realism in 2k15 is the animations which are truly wonderful and realistic, especially in terms of collisions during fouls etc... but that's not gameplay, that's graphics. Gameplay sucks at the moment to be honest. I'm playing more 2k14 (modded of course) than 2k15 nowadays. It's a bit hard for the eyes going back to the old jerky animations, but I find myself using my brain much more often than I do with 2k15 and the gameplay is much closer to real basketball. If someone could mod 2k15's player and crowd models/animations in 2k14 I'd be in heaven.

2K15's defense is waaay better IMO. In 2K14, you could literally just drive to the basket and dunk on anyone with LeBron. 2K15, you can't do that at all.

I thought that as a user, defending in 2K14 was entirely too easy. All you had to do was hold LT, and you always stayed in front of your defender, and would never ever get driven on successfully, and your man would shoot a ridiculously low percentage. You actually have to work in 2K15, and sometimes you still get beat, and sometimes even when you defend well, your man still scores, just like in the NBA. You have to sit back a little bit more, and can't take all the risks you could in 2K14 without being penalized. If you play a man too tight, he'll smoke you. Lay off too much and he'll pull up for an open jumper. The problem is that people don't like to work on defense. They just want to hold the trigger and be successful. I've actually found that a lot of times, holding LT makes it more difficult to defend, so you need to pick and choose your spots and actively try to anticipate where the dribbler is going, to stay in front. Again, sometimes you get beat -- that's the biggest issue I think people are having. They aren't used to getting beat, and now that they are, the immediate reaction is 'defense is broken', as opposed to 'defense is different, and I have yet to properly adjust'.

The gameplay for me is about 1000x better and more realistic than it was in 2K14 for PC. Worlds better to the point where I laugh to myself to even try to compare them.

First of all, I'm happy that you enjoy this year's game. My graphics card is getting quite old (hd 7850) and I'm using the keyboard, so we might be having completely different experiences with 2k15. Here's my main gripes with 2k15 defense:

1. Sometimes when I press a button the player doesn't respond. So if say the opponent pointguard tries to go through the right side of my defender and I have to go upwards to stop him, I might press the up key and the defender won't move upwards for half a second (enough time for opponent to go through).

2. Sometimes when I press a button the player will respond but instead of going only a little upwards, he might take two-three steps upwards with a single keystroke. During the first step the opponent will crossover but even though I press the down button my player still moves upwards.

3. Too much cheese... During full court defense when you try to attempt a trap, as soon as the CPU passes the ball inbounds the on-ball defender freezes. During the first or even the second dribble of the opponent, the guy guarding him will stay still and just let him pass. In half-court when you guard the guy who is making the inbound pass on half court, sometimes your defender can't move... If the CPU tries to set a pick the best thing you can do is run towards the pick, the CPU always gets called an offensive foul. I've already mentioned the spamming the steal button. I seriously hoped that the two updates would fix some of this but to my disappointment I saw that it didn't.

5. Games in 2k15 are much higher scores than games in 2k14 (I'm currently playing both). It's easier for the CPU to score on me, and it's also easier for me to score against the CPU in 2k15.

6. TBM, What you say is partly true. It's true that in 2k15 once you're past your defender and drive towards the paint, it's more difficult to dunk on top of someone or to perform the Euro step or the 1-2 step without defense pushing you off balance or commiting an offensive foul. However, it is more difficult in 2k14 to drive past your defender and reach the paint, as on-ball defense was much tougher than 2k15.

Again, I'm glad you enjoy the game, I truly wish I did too, as I love the animations and player models. I recently upgraded my system just to be able to play this game. But at the moment I can't say I rather enjoy it unfortunately.

Updates? Many ofyour gripes are easily tweaked via Sliders... Steals, Shooting, etc. and I imagine the rest comes from using a keyboard vs a controller, which sports games are clearly designed with in mind.
