NO STUTTER AND BETTER PERFORMANCE

Talk about NBA 2K15 here.

NO STUTTER AND BETTER PERFORMANCE

Postby HeavyMachinery82 on Mon Oct 20, 2014 6:21 am

OK guys, i don't know if this helps everyyone, but it sure helped me:

In %appdata% roaming/2k15 folder there is a file called VideoSettings. I changed refresh rate to 50 and my frame rates gone up and there is no more stutter!!!

My configuration is

i3 2310 M 2.1 ghz
4gb RAM
Nvidia Geforce 555 M

my framerate is very playable: 40 FPS on 1080p resolution and smooth as silk...on cutscenes it drops to 30, but there is no lag. Before i changed refresh rate i had a big lag and fps in the low 20's.
textures and players are on medium, shader is on high...special effects off...it looks better than unmodded nba 2k14 if thats you're interested in.
I'm very happy that now i can play this game even with my 4 year old laptop.
I guess the game is not optimised well, but let's hope that patch will improve things.

Game is optimized, you have a pretty low card, you should be happy with those frames. Only issue is stuttering but I hope they will remove it with the new patch.

biggyca...i am happy with the framerates because my laptop barely passes the minimum requirements :D

But this thing with changing the refresh rate really helped, before that i had maybe 30 fps on 720 p with lot of frame drops and stuttering, i don't know why it helped but it did :D

Did you saw this game with special effect on and did you compare your 2k15 with modded 2k14?
This game will run smooth(if for some1 40fps is smooth) almost on every rig with special effect on and texture/players on medium, so its not something special...imo

Skoadam, i would like to buy a better computer and hit all on high but i dont have the money right now :D for me NBA 2k15 is better then all the games before because of the gameplay.

It has its own issues, but out of the box the gameplay is very good, i can't imagine what the modders will do with this game in couple of months :D
Now it's up to 2K to fix the issues...but overall probably the best basketball game of all time, maybe 2k11 only could challenge it :D

Players look more natural, moves are more natural...and to correct myself, graphics are not bad :D
2k14 is better modded than my settings but after playing this i can't go back to 2k14...but my post wasn't about graphics...i just posted this fix that i found.
Can you try it with changing the refresh rate Skoadam and tell me is it better for you? Could you do that?

did you try in %appdata%roaming/ 2k15 folder? there is a file called VideoSettings..open it with notepad and change refresh rate to 50...but you've got to untick read-only before that and then when you change it tick it again.
Sorry for explaining this like you're some kind of noob (i know you're not), just tryin' to help :D

I'm gonna try this as soon as I get home and see what I get (Y) (Y)

I have an i7 3770
GTX560 SE DDR5
4GB RAM

I can run NBA 2K15 on high settings (except for player textures, I can only run it on medium) and turn special effects on and have 40-45 FPS. It's playable but the moderate lag is very noticeable so I run things on medium and turn special effects off and I easily get 55-60 FPS but on some occasions, it would still drop to 45-50 FPS. I'm guessing the progressive sweat has something to do with that so I really need to see if this thing would work :o

I agree with HeavyMachinery82. Turning special effects off kinda makes the broadcast view (or any view for that matter) dull and comparing it to a modded NBA 2K14 puts it to shame. But I totally dig the smooth animations and transitions as it is more interactive than ever and I don't need to mention the small things like the hair physics and the sweat. It's still next-gen after all. :D

Can't wait for modders to open this game up successfully and make major changes to everything. DAMN.
