Postby slimm44 on Thu Oct 24, 2013 5:15 am

Welcome to my 2k14 roster project. All current players have had all ratings/tendencies/contracts/play types edited, all playbooks have been edited to incorporate Hikwelty and Fishbowlguy's work, and all Coaching Profiles have been edited.

Here is a link that explains which plays work and which ones don't. It's almost finished PLEASE DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... sp=sharing

Here is a link that explains which plays should be assigned to which teams. Several play types are done: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... sp=sharing

What makes this mod “sim”? Here are a few of the features that set this project apart from all others:

- Every art file (jerseys, arenas, cyberfaces, accessories, courts, dornas (advertisement at half court), etc is realistic and none will crash game play
- There is no missing art file in the entire project

Every player in every roster has:
- Accurate statistical ratings and tendencies to work with 2k's simulation engine while still providing realistic game play
- Realistic ratings and tendencies that affect game play but not the simulation engine ie dribbling, athletic ratings, post tendencies, etc.
- Realistic physical attributes that decrease after major injuries or as the player gets older
- Accurate play types
- Accurate contracts

- Accurately updated Coaching profiles and playbooks

- Draft classes that have realistic player information for every player

- A few slider sets designed to be a base for realistic game play

Thanks, man, I appreciate it. This may seem like a bold statement, but I'll say this...

When this game is set right, it's the best basketball game I've ever played.

I have some pretty big plans for 2k14 that includes some REALLY heavy use of REDitor once I get the current teams and free agents done.

Hey, guys, just wanted to give you a head's-up that [Cam], seanbarkley, and I are going to make this a collaboration project. I will be responsible for the ratings/tendencies/assigned plays/playbooks/coaching profiles and they will be responsible for everything else. Editing will not go all that fast on my end until REDitor is released, so please be patient.

Great !!!!!!!!!! I'll be able to tweak the draft classes i'm working on. Not sure i understood what you said about potential though, you say 3-5 players every few years with better than 75 potential. It seems that potential has been tweaked by 2K, it used to be that every player with above 74 potential could be an all star in previous games, and now the potential seems to be the best overall rating the player can be. What do you think ?

I am going to test the potential system more before I can really say. I do know that, the majority of the time, a player's overall rating will not progress higher than his potential rating. I will let you know more as I find it.

Good to know you're working on draft classes, my man. I appreciate your work there.

Can't wait to download your amazing roster

One question though, about your editing guide. Players liek Ibaka have more than 2 blocks / 36 minutes. It wouldn't be fair to give him and someone who barely averages 2 blocks / 36 minutes same rating.

I don't like how that works, either. However, I can't do anything in regards to the sim engine. I want that to be as close to realistic as possible because, with sliders, we can customize gameplay whereas with the sim engine there isn't much we can do. The sim engine should allow players to go up to 4.5 or 5 blocks per 36 minutes, but it doesn't. Sorry.

But if you lower other players ratings Ibaka's blocks per game stay on par with his real life counterpart.

Don't look at blocks per game, look at blocks per 36 minutes. You can get a player to average 2.5-3 blocks per game in the sim engine but they have to play 45-48 minutes to get it.

I've just testet sim engine by putting everybody on OKC's roster block rating on 25. Ibaka was the only one with 99. He got 1.7 BPG in 35 minutes per game. :x :x

It's statistical variance built into the sim engine. You'll probably see him get between 1.7 and 2.3 blocks per 36 minutes at 99 blocking. The variance that is built into the sim engine is actually pretty good.

Yeah, but in past versions in the game. I could get players average 15 rebounds per game, 4 blocks per game (by lowering the standard in the ratings in the league/team)...In this year stats are capped - blocks at 3 (Hibbert averaged taht much in my 29 games ASS), assists at 11.5 (Rubio) etc. *those are my season high averages that I witnessed and can confirm.

Sorry, guys. Been taking a while due to a ridiculous amount of testing. Me and a few posters from OS have been in the lab for a few days. We've come up with several new nuggets of information that will enhance the gameplay, ie new scales for vertical, speed, quickness, etc. based off of combine measurements and also subjective changes to the various shot type frequencies, post shot tendencies, and freelance post tendencies.

To give a sneak peak, I saw a CPU match last night where Dwight Howard had 25 points, 20 rebounds, and 2 blocks in 40 minutes. BEASTMODE!

Once I get the players on Chicago, Miami, Lakers, Mavericks, Nets, Pacers, Rockets, Thunder, Warriors, and Wizards all-the-way-done, I'll post it. It should be a few days and should also be considered an early-edition beta roster.
