Show and Hide Button

Would someone be willing to explain to me how to put in a show/hide button or feature? I know the "spoiler" coding is similar but I dont think you can hide the item once it is clicked. Ideally I would like to be able to have people click to show something and click to then hide it. Any help is greatly appreciated!
