Leftos wrote:I don't agree with that necessarily guys. NLSC is a community that offers equal opportunities to all modders. If I keep the ones I think are best of the best, I'd be discriminating against other modders who will in turn get less views to their threads, less comments, less constructive criticism. Every modder started somewhere, and nobody was perfect from day 1, so my perspective is if the community is giving them a chance, I should give them a chance too.

This isn't meant as a Top 10 of everything list, this is meant as an index of every 2K12 modder and their work. And an index doesn't discriminate.

And by the way, a best of the best list would require voting or else it would be left up to someone's subjective taste. No good for such a thread.

If someone wants to create a "My Recommended Mods for NBA 2K12", go ahead.

You're right in that NLSC offers equal opportunity. That's why it offers a free forum that anybody can post at. Everybody can make a "release thread" and get comments and constructive criticism.

However this thread isn't about that. It isn't about listing ALL of the patches that exist. If you did that, then you'd have a gigantic list that would serve no purpose to anyone. If you want to find ALL the patches that exist, just load NLSC download database or moddingway.com and have a look. In my mind, this thread should be about allowing newbs and vets alike to shortcut all the fodder and update their game with what's regarded as the top mods. So it's like, if someone thinks - Ok, i want to update and improve my game with great mods, where do i start? - then they should be able to look at this post and do that.

Of course, do what you want. That's just what i think.

@Nick:
And how should I go about having only the best mods up there? Should I leave it up to my personal taste? Or should I read every thread's comments and judge by that? Because I'm doing none of that. Seriously, if you have any recommendation as to how to know which modders to keep and which not, tell me, and I might change my mind. Although it's kind of improbable.

However, anyone can take this list as a template, remove any mods they don't consider "best of the best" and re-post it as their own "My Recommended Mods for NBA 2K12". I don't think I'll do that, but feel free to do it yourselves.

EDIT: An idea would be to have ongoing polls about each category, and every 2 weeks, I'd check the Top 3 modders of each category and put a notice next to their thread that says (no 1,2,3 recommended modder in this category), etc, also having their threads at the top of each category. That would require a lot of polls to be set-up though, so I won't be doing anything like that unless the administrative team gives me permission.

Patch of the Week was another good way to get some modders to shine. I could put a phrase like "3 Times Winner of Patch of The Week" next to a modder's thread, etc.

In the end, if you get a community-based way to choose which modders are considered top every week/2 weeks, I'm willing to update the thread accordingly each time.

Let the voting begin!

Use the below template in your post to upvote your favorite modders and mods, and get them higher in each respective category! And be nice modders, don't vote yourselves. :P

Rules are, only one set of votes per month per user, and only one vote per category. Some categories are by modder and others by mod, so read each one carefully before voting.

Also, no backsies. When I register your votes for a specific month, you can't change them until the next month.

Added a section in the Q&A of the original post regarding files that have been updated by 2K and that require Keep My Mod in order for their mods to work.

I know everyone knows of it's existance already so linking it here would be redundant /sarcasm

but it might be worth while sticking a link to this basic FAQ in your post as well - viewtopic.php?f=141&t=82789

-sigh- Forgot about that one. Should we combine FAQs by adding my Q&A to the general NBA 2K12 one and have me link to it from the top of the post?

Okay, you're the only one who can edit the general FAQ. So when you add my Q&A there, tell me to remove it from here and I'll link to the FAQ in its place.
