Guys, a little bit of help, please. :)

Hi people! I hope it's the right section for this thread. If not, sorry, feel free to move it.

I am running NBA2K12 on my laptop and I experience lag, if that's the right term. There are times that the game would run on very low framerates, say, 10FPS for 10 secs, then 60FPS(max) for 20 secs. It's a cycle. It's not consistently on that pattern, more of random, but you get the point, it goes low fps for some intervals throughout the whole game.

My laptop's an ACER ASPIRE 4755G. The specs are i7-2670QM 2.2to3.1Ghz, GeForce GT540M, 4GB RAM and 750GB HD. I run NBA 2K12 at the highest settings. I experience the low framerates even if I turn down the settings to medium. That's how I feel that it's not that my hardware can't run the game really well, but more of maybe a compatibility or software issue. I can run Modern Warfare 3 at max at 45-60FPS, Battlefield 3 and Black-ops at medium at 30-45 average FPS.

I played 2k12 on an ACER ASPIRE 4745G laptop with an i5-520M and ATI HD 5470 with no problems. That is why i'm confused why I experience the low framerates. And yes, I set that it is ran by the proper Videocard on the nvidia settings. I confirm this thru checking my taskbar while I minimize the game that it is run by the nvidia card.

Any help on this matter woud be appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds like your laptop isn't plugged in. when it runs on the battery it uses a lower power state, and that might be happening while it is plugged in as well. another possibility could be high temperatures. Your cpu could be clocking down as a safe measure to keep the temperatures down.

Thanks Pdub, for moving the thread and the response. But while playing the game, it is plugged in and i've checked the temps, and they're fairly normal. :(

Have you messed around with the config file at all before this? Changing anything in that file can cause jitters and slowdowns. You also want to make sure you have enough space on your hard drive(s) for the cache files and that your antivirus program is not trying to scan these files as the game is writing to them constantly during play for the replays at the end of the game. So you want to exclude both your 2k12 directory and the one where the save files are from being scanned.
