Adjust the skill points limit

Postby MacBryce on Mon Oct 17, 2011 10:09 am

Hi everyone,

Another my player-related question. This time I want to adjust the skill limit. I've been working hard to get my point forward a decent hook shot. I maxed out the ability (which was really expensive), I got the Kareem sky hook animation going, but all of a sudden I've hit a 75 point skill point limit. That's really annoying considering my guy won't even score reliable hook shots when Rajon Rondo is guarding him the post. :|

I tried to adjust this using tsearch and I managed to find the right value, but the skill points always jump back to the max limit when saving.

Does anyone know a solution to this issue? All I want is a point forward with a nice hook shot (like Magic had, for example). I found this thread, but I'm not really sure if the advice there still applies to NBA 2K12.

Thanks in advance.

The limit is probably based on your player type. You can always just run tsearch or cheat engine and freeze the value so it saves it. I'm not sure how many checks the game makes to reset the limit.

In this year's My Player, you can "buy" skill cap increases with your paycheck, in My Purchases, or something like that.

Yeah you can but I dont think you can cap it all the way to 99 for something.

If it capped at 75 you might be able to get it to 85 max after purchasing the cap increases

Let me clarify my previous post a bit: It starts out at 70 and after purchasing all the increases it maxed at 75. I need to be able to get it to at least 85 in order for me to be able to get the type of player I want. This is really frustrating, since I can get everything else to 90, but the only stat I need higher than the initial cap is maxed at 75.

@Pdub: I tried freezing the value but it jumps back to the limit before saving. Apparently it checks before saving, so that method isn't going to work. Thanks for the help, though.

Can anyone comment on my question about this thread: viewtopic.php?f=135&t=79530&p=1372516&hilit=skill+point+limit#p1372516. Is there an Alec's Trainer or REDitor available for 2K12?

It looks to me that I need to be able to find the max limit value somewhere and change that. If if I manage to save a higher rating, it will probably jump back immediately after I adjust another skill.

I found another thread that seems to have fixed my issue: viewtopic.php?f=143&t=82392#p1432667

Using the cheat engine tables, I could raise the cap limit. As it is a floating point, I just copied the cap of another value to raise my low post skill cap to 90. I'm not sure if this is a solution that will keep working, but I've played a few games and I haven't found any issues yet.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm trying to raise my standing dunk on my PG, it's capped at 50 with a 5 point upgrade from 45. I can't get it past 50.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Standing Dunk Cap Address: 013B683C (Int. 1 Byte).

Add address manually and change value to 99.

It was the "byte" that was throwing me off, i was trying 4 bytes.

I think i saw a list somewhere that had all the attributes that are capped, but if you have a list would you mind posting it here? or linking?

Thanks a lot. It worked like a charm.

Nope, this is the list I found and tried but none worked.

How did you find them PeoplesChamp? Would you mind updating this list with the proper values?

Standing Dunk Maximum - 013B683C (updated from PeoplesChamp)

Defensive Low Post Maximum - 01320085 (Not Working)
Block Maximum - 01320086 (Not Working)

The cap addresses are actually easy to find. Search for the initial cap max. Step two is to just go into My Purchases and to boost any attribute you want by 1 each time and continue to look for the respective new cap maximum value.

Anyway, these should all work (Int. 1 Byte):

Offensive Clutch Maximum - 013B6843
Defensive Clutch Maximum - 013B6844
Defensive Low Post Maximum - 013B6845
Block Maximum - 013B6846
Offensive Rebounding Maximum - 013B684D
Defensive Rebounding Maximum - 013B684E
Strength Maximum - 013B6856

Yep, I figured it out last night.

Also all of the cap ranges seem to be in the 013b68** range. That makes them easier to find. Just type in the Max Value (currently) and the only value in the 013B68** range is the correct one (or if there are a few they are all other stat caps) I raised my all-around PF to 99 on everything this way.

Sorry this is not working for me. When ever I would change them, they would go right back. I badly want to change the cap boosts...The limits are so annoying.
