NBA Today Will Have 66 Game Season In NBA 2K12

According to Ronnie 2K, NBA Today will reflect the 66 game season (currently it's running off the original schedule) but it won't be patched in for My Player, Association or Online Association.

The reason for this is that NBA today shows games that actually take place today, because that's the point of NBA today. Or am I misunderstanding something? I think they only have to insert new schedule into the game and that's all. Changing association/my player is much more difficult, if not impossible. I think that's the reason 66 game season is only for NBA today.

Correct.

A 66 game option also presents problems with multiseason play and is more unrealistic in the long run, so beyond any technical difficulties it's an understandable decision. EA patched the 50 game schedule into NBA Live 99 for the 1998/1999 season and the multiyear option in Season Mode (the precursor to separate single Season and Franchise/Dynasty modes) saw you play ten years with a 50 game schedule.

NBA Today is easy to fix, all they have to do is change the games that are listed on each day in whatever file it calls.

They'd have to probably build a whole different variable scheduling system for the various modes. And knowing 2K the current one probably freaks out if it doesn't find 1230 games.

Why dont you just sim to Christmas day in association mode?

It's not quite the same as you won't be starting with a 0-0 record, not everyone will have 66 games to go at that point and the schedule won't be updated. Given the circumstances, I'd say it's better to just play Association as normal and as if the lockout never happened.
