Important PC Question

Postby pistonnation on Sun Sep 25, 2011 4:40 am

Hello Everyone! I Have been wondering this for a long time now but, Did 2K Sports fix the "Low Quality" Audio in the PC version of 2k12? Because I own the PC versions of 2k9-11 and my lil bro has the 2k10 PS3 version. It amazes me how much of a difference there is in the audio perspective. Kevin and Clark sound like they are right next to you, and the menu music to all sound effects are just floor pounding awesome! ;) But not in the PC version... now why is that??? (N) AND. real quick, they talk about how they have the "Real Arena Specific" Audio in 2k11/12 but all I heard in 2k11 was a bunch of made up sound effects, and music... :| Even NBA Live/Elite Demo has the REAL AUDIO MUSIC! Whats the dealio 2K?!?! :?

I bet the difference in the pc audio is because of on board sound. I remember it being an issue, but other people did not have the issue, so that is why I assume it is because of on board sound.

Maybe someone with a dedicated sound card can tell us if they get surround sound similar to the 360.

I also remember beginning with 2k10, they sound quality for the pc version dropped, especially for the commentary.

Haha, No... There is no way my PC's sound system sucks... I have an off motherboard realtek HD Audio sound card. It most def. does not suck... ;) But what Pdub said is exactly what Im talking about. You have to compare the 3 systems (PC and Xbox 360/PS3) And with a good speaker system on your TV you will most def. hear a HUGE difference in the sound quality on the PS3/XBXO 360 compared to the I would say, "Dumbed Down" PC version due to the port, or price being so much lower... Anyway, yeah my Card plays ALL of my other games (Fallout 3/NV Crysis 2, GTA4, Deus Ex: HR etc.) With superior sound quality. And lets not forget the amazing music quality I get. :applaud: Oh yeah thanks for the replys everyone!

Not only is the sound quality worse on the PC, but the surround sound doesn't work like it does on the consoles. On the 360, commentary is on the center channel. On the PC, commentary is on all channels and on court sounds are on the center channel, which is kind of cool in it's own right.

Remember one of the 2K's on PC had the ball-bouncing sound only on one side of the court? People who had sounds cards didn't have that problem, iirc.

Yeah, the sound is just awful. Well, arena sounds and effects are good, but commentary and music is bad. It's like watching an old YouTube video (240p) with bad audio. :|

Yeah, when I read the dynamic commentator on NBA 2k11 before. I was pumped up. Like I said, commentators are the one who makes me pumped up. Especially on the playoffs. But on PC, they're so blunt and boring.

I saw a vid on one of the stories here. and I asked why was the commentating different? It's better than mine.

With that being said, and it is confirmed that the PC's audio is worse than the console's for a stupid reason... Does anyone know if it is fixed in 2k12 PC? I heard that Visual Concepts is porting the game. And last year I believe it was someone else and it wasn't exactly up to our standards... Any Insight on the subject? :)

Your best chance at an answer is to contact Ronnie from 2k.

This was a real downer for 2k11. I just booted up 2k12 and it's the exact same. Menu music sounds like it's 92 kbps, and only comes in in stereo format. Right now I'm using my GTX 560ti and sending audio through HDMI to my amp. Every other game works flawless, full surround sound.

I do have an Omega Striker 7.1 dedicated soundcard which I might try out to see if it makes a difference. Just need to install the drivers. Really hope it doesn't come to that.

Is anybody getting surround sound from 2k11 or 2k12 on PC? I mean it sounds awful, like your listening to a game presented from the 80's. I'm not sure what's going on.

Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated!
