Yep it was tough, but Collison was the best Pacer. He was just unstoppable. Also all the steals and a +30, he murdered me. :shake:

Yeah, the worst thing that happened in the game. I know Clutch's kind of happy right now :lol:

    Weekly Rewind N° 11 • Marco Belinelli explosion, Howard retires, injuries and more...
    nba.com/spurs/morningcoffee | January 9th, 2011

    Image
    SAN ANTONIO -- Welcome to the latest installment of my “Morning Coffee” blog, Spurs fanatics. I have some more tidbits here in the table for us to discuss. I'm doing a weekly report with things that happened around the league, including: in my opinion, the most interesting game of the week; signings & waivings; POTW honors; Power Rankings; injury report; All-Star voting and trading rumors. Hope you join the discussion!

    Hornets ride Belinelli, Paul nights to defeat Sixers • For one night, Marco Belinelli was a bigger factor than Chris Paul and David West. Belinelli scored a career-high 32 points and three assists as the New Orleans Hornets beat the Philadelphia 76ers, 119-75, on January 3. “It was definitely a special evening,” said Belinelli, whose previous career-high of 27 came December 19, 2008 against the Atlanta Hawks. “I will remember this night for the rest of my life.” The Hornets have been searching for a consistent third scorer behind Paul and West, and the Italian filled the role perfectly. He got going early, getting easy layups, and even moved to the outside, going 4-for-6 from 3-point range. “He got a couple of easy shots, and after that the basket looks bigger,” said Paul, who had 27 points, five rebounds and 11 assists. “He played a great game, and hopefully he can continue to play that way for the team.” Former Spur Curtis Jerrells scored 5 points in 5 minutes for the Hornets, while Elton Brand (16 points) and Jrue Holiday (13) were the only Sixers scoring in double figures.

    Juwan Howard to retire when June comes • Miami's Juwan Howard announced today he will retire at the end of the season, completing a colorful career that included 17 years in the NBA. The 37-year-old Howard said he was looking forward to spending more time with his family. He didn't rule out a managing or office role for the Heat or another team. “It's been a wonderful experience,” Howard said. “There's no way that I won't cherish the memories in this league. It has been a beautiful journey.” Howard played for the Washington Wizards (1994-2001), Dallas Mavericks (2001-2002; 2007), Denver Nuggets (2002-2003; 2008), Orlando Magic (2003-2004), Houston Rockets (2004-2007), Minnesota Timberwolves (2007), Portland Trail Blazers (2009-2010), and Miami (2010-2011).

    Players of the Week • The Miami Heat's LeBron James and the Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played January 2 - 8. This is James' 6th Player of the Week award, and Durant's 6th as well, fifth in the last 6 weeks for the Thunder forward. James and the Heat had a 2-1 week, with wins over Charlotte and the Bucks, and a loss at Milwaukee as they got a quick revenge. In the victory over Charlotte, he scored 38 points, five rebounds and four assists shooting 14-of-19 from the field, and a wonderful triple-double over the Bucks -- 28 points, 12 boards and 12 assists. James finished the week with averages of 34.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.0 assists. OKC's Durant averaged 30.6 points along with 11.0 rebounds, as the Thunder posted a 2-1 week; both triumphs over Memphis (double-doubles in both contests), and a loss in the middle against Dallas.

    Power RankingsBest teams of the week? LA Lakers (4-0), New Jersey (3-0), Orlando (3-1), Portland (3-1) and Atlanta (3-1). The worst? Philadelphia (0-4), Memphis (0-4), Golden State (0-3), Milwaukee (1-3), and Toronto (1-3). High jumps -- New Jersey (+8), LA Clippers (+8), New York (+6), Portland (+5), Atlanta (+4). Free falls -- Philadelphia (-7), Memphis (-6), Indiana (-4), Charlotte (-4), Denver (-4). Check the power rankings (Top 7) here.

    Injury report • Sorted by injuries with most duration, here you can check the full injury report. Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes will undergo arthroscopic surgery tomorrow to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. Barnes was injured in the Lakers' win over New Orleans and underwent an MRI to confirm the injury. It is estimated that Barnes will be out six-to-eight weeks following the procedure. Houston Rockets bigman Jordan Hill won't be playing anytime soon either as he was sidelined indefinitely with a torn ligament in his left hand. Doctors say that Hill will be out for at least a month.

    All-Star Voting • The 2011 NBA All-Star Ballot was unveiled on November 18th, during a special tip-off event in Los Angeles, the Official Host City of NBA All-Star 2011, and All-Star Balloting began on November 25th at 3 p.m. ET. The 60th NBA All-Star Game, which will air live on TNT and ESPN Radio in the U.S., and reach fans in more than 200 countries and territories in more than 40 languages, will be played at STAPLES Center on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011. NBA All-Star 2011 in Los Angeles will bring together some of the most talented and passionate players in the league’s history for a global celebration of the game. Los Angeles and the STAPLES Center will host NBA All-Star 2011, marking the fifth time The City of Angels and the second time STAPLES Center will be the site of the annual celebration. STAPLES Center last played host to NBA All-Star in 2004, and L.A. also hosted the All-Star Game in 1963, 1972, and 1983. To vote for your Spurs players you'd like to see play in the NBA All-Star Game, text the player's LAST NAME to 69622 (MYNBA). Underlined, changes to the leaders.

    Rockets, Timberwolves made deal • The Houston Rockets announced today that the team has traded bigman Chuck Hayes to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for guard Sebastian Telfair. “Right now we have a solid seed entering the playoffs, but we wanted to aggressively position ourselves to explore every avenue possible to improve the squad. That said, it was not an easy decision to trade Chuck, but one that we felt was necessary in order to have a better basketball team,” said Rockets GM Daryl Morey. “Sebastian was needed to give more rest to Aaron (Brooks), and we know he will become a very valuable player on our team.” Some basketball analysts criticized the move by Morey considering the injury to forward/center Jordan Hill, but just looking at the statistics, Hayes had the worst year of his career. Morey is gambling all his chips on rookie Patrick Patterson to step up. “Patrick had some injuries in the first months of the season, but now he's back and everyone on the Rockets organization knows he will play even better. He will have more playing time as a backup to Luis (Scola).” It's a low-risk, high-paying move if it works out for Morey.

Just because I'm not posting statistics. Axel was averaging 20-5-5 coming into the game, and Hova was playing like Jason Kidd, 9-8-8 is I remember correctly. :wink:

Six Spurs score over 15 points in blowout of Wolves; Popovich says “best team effort of the season”
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (MIN :: SAS)

SAN ANTONIO, January 9 -- With every game, Tiago Splitter becomes a little more relaxed, a little more comfortable in his NBA rookie year. And never was that gradual ascendance more evident than in 2011's Noche Latina, during a first-quarter dunk -- you can see it in the video -- when the Brazilian slammed home the most memorable basket, over Chuck Hayes -- in his Minnesota debut -- and Jonny Flynn, in San Antonio's lopsided 119-96 victory over the Timberwolves. “I was a little nervous,” Splitter said after a laugh when reminded of the dunk. “I'm not used to that. It was a great play.” But you'd never know. Splitter is finally getting used to lots of things in the NBA, at the spotlight of one of the most exciting teams in the league. He proved it again by making 5-of-6 shots, notching 15 points with nine rebounds, and leading San Antonio to its 27th win of the season, making yet another strong case for Sixth Man of the Year.

“I knew that it would take some time for Tiago to be a solid rotation guy, to be the player we drafted him to be,” said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. “Now he's there. We didn't have to wait very long, thankfully. He's hitting the potential we knew he had when we drafted him.” The same could be said for the Spurs as a whole. With the Spurs up by 10 in the third quarter, Martell Webster scored a quick jumper and Wesley Johnson hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to five. But the Wolves committed turnovers on the following five possessions as the Spurs trigged a 15-5 run for a 20-point lead. Minnesota didn't make a field goal for almost 4 minutes. By the time Kevin Love hit an up-and-under early in the fourth, the Wolves had missed 9 straight shots and were down by 26. Flynn had 4 of those 5 turnovers, finishing with 8 for the night and a plus-minus of -28. “In that third quarter, I don't know what that was,” Johnson (18 points) said. “We've done it in multiple occassions in these last games. Obviously we're not on the same page.” The victory, all but locked up with 90 points after three quarters, was San Antonio's ninth home win in 10 games. But it's a big contrast to the Timberwolves, who lost four of their last 5 games overall. While San Antonio's bench had 43 points, powered by Splitter and James Anderson's 10 points, Minnesota's managed just 19.

But the best statistic was that six Spurs scored in double figures -- five of them over 15 points, led by Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili, with 19 apiece, and Corey Maggette added 18. Duncan also had 11 rebounds for a double-double. “We're still working on who we want to become, starting to understand what we need to do out there,” Duncan said. “We had a lot of offensive threats and posted a blowout.” The Wolves also had five players on double figures -- Webster had a game-best 25 points and Love added 24 and 13 rebounds, but coach Kurt Rambis wasn't happy. “We're having trouble finding ways to score as a team,” he said. “They played with a lot of heart and energy and we weren't. So I didn't see any way we were going to get back into the game.” The Spurs did the most damage in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, a 59-39 partial score, as they shredded the Wolves' defense, making them pay for its occasional double-teams of Duncan or Tony Parker, who had 16 points to go with 11 assists and three steals. Duncan, Ginobili and Maggette combined to make 22-of-29 shots, a big reason why the Spurs shot 55 percent from the field; Parker was 6-of-17, scoring 14 of his 16 in the first half.

ASW... I think two times... one of my first dynasties, a Heat one, and then the Pacers where I simmed the first season and got Granger, Wade, Wall.

Georgia Tech game is next, if I remember correctly.

Beasley played 7 minutes, and in those 7 minutes they had a 10-2 run. And he never played again :lol:

Will try to post a new game tonight. The plan is post a game every day so this goes faster...

Manu, Duncan get hot in second half as Spurs defeat Timberwolves in successive contests
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (SAS :: MIN)

MINNESOTA, January 11 -- The Minnesota Timberwolves are confident they'll rise from the bottom of the West soon. But not tonight. Manu Ginobili scored 18 points, and Tim Duncan added 17 to help the San Antonio Spurs beat the Timberwolves, 113-105 in a matchup of the Western Conference's best and worst squads. “We know we're not the worst team,” Martell Webster said. “We're much better than 11 wins right now, but luck hasn't been on our side.” The Spurs led 84-74 with 2:33 left to play in the third, but had to survive a scare as Minnesota had 10 unanswered points and tied the game at 86 to enter the final period; Webster scored 13 of his game-high 25 points in the third to lead the comeback. San Antonio also outrebounded the Timberwolves, 40-36 and their bench won yet again, 49-30. Minnesota, who is 11-28, also were hurt by 8-of-13 free throws as they lost their fourth game in a row, fifth in 6 games.

“Our situation is understanding what we do to be good and doing that every night,” Wolves bigman Kevin Love said. “We've got a young team. And as a young team, we are gonna have a tough year.” Love is making a case for Most Improved Player, posting 30 points and 10 rebounds. He had 24 and 13 two days ago. Wolves coach Kurt Rambis used 9 players in the first quarter because of foul trouble. Wesley Johnson had 11 points and along Webster and Love, were the Wolves' only three players to score in double figures. Luke Ridnour had 7 -- all in the second period -- while Corey Brewer and Michael Beasley added 6 apiece. Beasley played only 9 minutes; some rumors that surfaced this last days said that Beasley was not happy with his playing time. Another report said that the Wolves supposedly had a deal in place that would have traded Beasley away, but team owner Glen Taylor, however, axed the deal and decided that Beasley wasn't going anywhere. That could change if Beasley formally requests a trade.

After the win in AT&T Center, San Antonio's flight arrived in Minnesota about 2:45 a.m., and the Spurs players were still talking about a rocky flight, that coach Gregg Popovich said ranked among the worst he has endured in his life. But Pop said he was encouraged by his team's energy: “I thought our defensive effort was tremendous. We had a little lapse in the third where we couldn't buy a bucket, then we went with a different lineup in the fourth. I said, 'That's not play time. You have to keep working to maintain what you've done.'” Nevertheless, It was the Wolves who looked tired. “We were outrebounded, their bench played better, we had more fouls, they also had more blocks and steals than us. So you can see we're kind of worn down,” coach Kurt Rambis said. Ginobili said Johnson “seemed like he was a little drained. He was not the way he usually is.” Tony Parker scored 12 points and eight assists for San Antonio, while Matt Bonner, Tiago Splitter and Corey Maggette all had 11 points each. Maggette once again had shooting issues: 2-of-12 from the field. The Spurs won the season series against Minnesota, 4-0.

I really don't know. In both games, they had runs at me when he was on the floor. He may get traded :wink:

Tomorrow -- new game at Milwaukee.

Maggette, Hughes, San Antonio show Bucks some offense 101 in lopsided affair; shoot season-high 58 percent

MILWAUKEE, January 12 -- One night after accusing his Milwaukee Bucks of “not playing with soul”, coach Scott Skiles packed it in early. Skiles was ejected midway through the fourth quarter as a defenseless Milwaukee showed little fight and suffered their fourth loss in their last 6 games: a 121-88 beating at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs. The fans filled Bradley Center to see Brandon Jennings, who was making his comeback from a 2-month spell on the sidelines, because of a torn hamstring. Instead, they saw another lackluster effort from the Bucks as a whole, and Jennings, who struggled the entire night. The Bucks were coming off a loss in New Jersey, after which Skiles, when asked if his team had quit, said, “It looked that way. It sure looked that way to me.” It looked that way again tonight -- the Bucks were down by 30 at halftime, as they surrendered a 71-point first half. With 8:21 left in the fourth period, and Milwaukee down by 40 -- yes, 40 points -- Skiles had enough and came onto the court to argue with the referees, who didn't hesitate to eject him.

Afterward, reporters endured a lengthy wait for Skiles, but he never came out to discuss with the media. Instead, four Bucks met the media and defended Skiles' actions. “Every second that he's over there on the bench, he's trying to fight for the team,” Jennings said. Jennings shot 2-of-17 from the field. Luol Deng added: “He's trying to get every advantage that he can. That's his style. He's going to fight for his team. That's him, night in and night out. He's always going to fight and try to protect his team as best as possible.” Forward Drew Gooden, who had a game-best 22 points, said: “He was very upset. He has passion for the game and for his players. Things aren't going right and he voiced his opinion.” Some would say only Gooden, Deng and John Salmons got into the act for the Bucks, who shot 41 percent, including a poor 66 percent from the free throw line; Deng and Salmons scored 16 points apiece. Andrew Bogut added 12 and tied his career-high of 7 blocks, but shot 5-of-13 from the floor. Jennings and his backup Keyon Dooling scored 7 each, as Milwaukee was outrebounded, 44-31, and their bench was overwhelmed: 56-15 for San Antonio's reserves -- another season-high.

The Spurs didn't need a big explosion from Tim Duncan, who only had 10 points and ten boards. He took a seat with his fourth foul in the third quarter, but still notched another double-double. Corey Maggette scored 11 of his 22 points in the first quarter, making 7-of-11 shots and 5-of-6 free throws. Maggette is averaging 5 free throws attempts in the last few games. “I'm being more aggressive,” said Maggette. “I saw how they played defense and decided to penetrate for dunks and layups.” San Antonio also got a lift from Larry Hughes, who had a season-high 15 points off the bench. “The attention on other players helped me,” said Hughes. “To be part of this Spurs team is incredible. They're a team with so much history.” After suffering 2 losses in a 3-game road trip, the Spurs are now in a 3-game winning streak; Tony Parker posted 13 points and Antonio McDyess 12 and 10 rebounds for another double-double. “I kept myself in the game by rebounding the ball and my defense,” said McDyess, who also had a game-high plus-minus of +24. “There's a lot of ways I can help this team. I just got to play good basketball and be smart.”
