We will start winning more consistently sooner or later. Poor team chemistry, that's what I'm blaming it on.

22 pts and 18 asts? Nash like number from Kidd. NEAT!

Ok. ENUF tho! 2 straight losses. 1 more loss, and I'd call for an emergency team meeting and set stuff straight.

Monthly Recap: October/November
Part One: Team Report, Results, League Standings

Monthly Recaps are divided into several parts in order to give readers a quick and organized overview. Part One of the Monthly Recap provides the league standings; divided into the two conferences. It also features the Seattle Stealth’s’ team report and schedule of games played in the last month (links are included to game recaps where applicable). Part Two will feature Player Statistics.

Team Report

After an offseason that brought in plenty of new players and a brand new coach; noone dared to make any bold predications as to how the Seattle Stealth would fare for the 2009-10 NBA season. A nearly winless preseason campaign was all that was needed to indicate a doomed regular season campaign but perennial All-Star PG Jason Kidd and young superstar-in-the-making Kevin Durant seemed to think otherwise.

The two players helped engineer an exciting season opening overtime win against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Although the team was brought back to reality through a 26 point drubbing by the New Orleans Hornets; Seattle’s players continued to keep their heads up and finish the first month of the regular season with a respectable 11-7 record. The team is tied for second in their division and tied fifth in the Western Conference.

The month saw plenty of highlights, which included the season-opening win against the Cavs while an exciting 1 point win against San Antonio would have been the game of the month for the Stealth. Unfortunately, the Stealth let big leads slip away all too easily; the most glaring incident being against the Chicago Bulls on Thanksgiving when the team let a 26 point lead become a 1 point loss to the Bulls. “This team could have had 13 wins and that would be good for first in the Conference right now,” GM Will Sit rues his squad’s missed chances.

The Stealth have also been hit by the injury bug, albeit all of the injuries have been minor. However, Seattle would prefer that its rotation players weren’t suffering from niggling ailments. Adam Morrison has been the most unfortunate player; so far being out for a week with a strained quad. His compatriots Kevin Durant, Brad Miller, and Jamaal Magloire were lucky to only suffer very minor injuries. Durant did not even miss any playing time as he played through the pain in his sprained toe.

Losing big leads and injuries have had their effect on the Stealth but the most glaring problem for Seattle is their lack of a consistent second scoring option. Adam Morrison seemed to feature in George Karl’s plans after being promoted to start at SG but Morrison’s 12 ppg is not enough to help the side. Since being injured, Jeff Green has stepped up to the plate and played well. Green has started the last four games with great success; scoring 22 points in three of his four starts.

As the team gears up for the following months ahead, they are in great shape with their leaders playing extremely well. Durant is leading the League in scoring with 30 points a game while Jason Kidd leads the League in assists with 11.9. If Jeff Green continues to play well and Morrison can fill the sixth man role that Green leaves behind for the starting lineup, Seattle may be a dangerous team after all.

Monthly Recap: October/November
Part Three: Around The League

Monthly Recaps are divided into several parts in order to give readers a quick and organized overview. Part Three of the Monthly Recap is the ‘Around the League’ recap, which features transactions and other League news. Part Four will feature the All- :new: NLSC Rookie Focus!

Transactions

Just three minor trades to start the new season and the most ‘interesting’ one has to be the deal between Atlanta and Sacramento. The Kings decided that they didn’t need newly signed forward Marvin Williams after drafting Moses Chara and dealt him back to where he was traded away last season; Atlanta. The Hawks who also just signed Steve Francis in the Summer decided to send him away in exchange for Williams. That’s what we call ‘weird decision making’ and perhaps why these teams are perennial losers (Although Atlanta is doing well in the standings for now).

October/November Trades:

10 Oct – Clippers F T Thomas traded for Bobats C N Mohammed
10 Oct – Kings F M Williams traded for Hawks G S Francis
11 Nov – Kings G R Sessions traded for Blazers G S Blake

Player Awards

LeBron James and Moses Chara Named Players Of The Month

Rookie Moses Chara needed little time to get settled into the NBA as the Kings star was named the Western Conference Player of the Month. His Eastern counterpart was LeBron James of the Cavs and that was not surprising as both players are averaging mind-boggling individual statistics.

Moses Chara, Sacramento

- Scores career high 38 points to go along with 7 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 steals v Orlando 111-91 W
- Had first career triple double of 28 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists v Houston 117-98 W
- Follows up with back-to-back triple double of 29 points, 16 rebounds, 16 assists v LA Lakers 114-115 L

LeBron James, Cleveland

- Scores season high 42 points and adds 11 rebounds, 4 assists v Seattle 111-116 L
- Records 30 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists, 4 steals v Washington 132-101 W
- Finishes with 30 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 3 steals v Dallas 114-96 W

Chara and Steele Honored As Rookies of the Month

The Nets’ Barney Steele is certainly proving himself to be a steal after having a solid first month in the NBA. Steele was expected to be selected second in the 2009 Draft but fell to the Nets at 8. The former Baylor PG is filling in nicely for the Nets with averages of 8.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg, and 8.3 apg.

Meanwhile, ‘Moses-Mania’ has gripped Kings fans as their Rookie Stalwart looks like the second coming of Larry Bird and Magic Johnson mixed into one.

Barney Steele, New Jersey

- Debuts with 15 points, 9 assists v Orlando 111-95 W
- Finishes with impressive 21 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists v Chicago 110-91 W
- Career High 15 assists goes along with 6 points, 5 rebounds v Seattle 123-126 L

News

Boston Ready For Championship Tilt

Many have stated that defending a title is harder than winning it in the first place. Kevin Garnett couldn’t agree any less. The Celtics choked during last season’s postseason and have come back with a renewed hunger.

With Ray Allen in his contract year and his star team mates Garnett and Paul Pierce not getting any younger, the trio figure it’s time to step it up a notch. “There’s no guarantee Ray will be back next season so hopefully if we win, that can be something that helps him make a decision to stick around,” Garnett said.

The Celtics have started the season at the top of the Eastern Conference.

Chara: I Will Be MVP

Moses Chara has sent out an ominous warning to LeBron James, stating that his eyes are on the prize. Chara is not referring to Rookie of the Year but is actually setting his sights on the Most Valuable Player award.

Chara is averaging 26.0 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 9.1 apg, 1.9 spg and shooting at a very efficient rate of .512 from the field; .428 from behind the arc; and .932 from the charity stripe. His only knock is that his team is not performing too well. On the flipside, James is averaging 29.4 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 8.4 apg, and 2.0 spg.

“LeBron is not the MVP,” Chara boldly stated after his recent outing against the San Antonio Spurs in which he scored 33 points in a Kings loss, “I’m only a rookie and I’m still tearing it up. I bet all of you can’t wait for us (Sacramento) to play them (Cleveland).”

LeBron James declined to comment.

Lamar Odom Unhappy With Role

Lamar Odom has stated their displeasure with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies forward has told a local newspaper that he was misled by the team and if he had second chance, he would have resigned with the Los Angeles Lakers over the Summer. “Memphis has no direction, I don’t know why I even joined them,” Odom quips, “I must have had a brain freeze.”

Don’t worry Lamar, rest assured that the under-achieving Lakers are struggling right now and missing you too!

Not by much though... and this is what losing Lamar Odom will do to your team.

He is indeed... seems to be the general opinion!

Sorta what Marks says but also because somehow the sim engine isnt allowing Lee to play much even if I assign him big minutes... minutea re very very evenly shared between Lee, Maglorie, Miller and Wilcox so everyone is averaging similar rebounding numbers... strange...

Monthly Recap: October/November
Part Four: NLSC Rookie Focus

Monthly Recaps are divided into several parts in order to give readers a quick and organized overview. Part Four of the Monthly Recap is the NLSC Rookie Focus where one NLSC rookie is chosen to be presented to you, the reader, in order for you to get to know them better.

Part Five will feature the All- :new: Team Focus.

Player Focus: Mark Moore

Image
Mark Moore tries to find a way to get past Seattle’s Kevin Durant

#7 | SG | Charlotte Bobcats (4-12) |
6’6” | 223 lbs | Age: 23 | Arizona |
2009 Draft | Round: 1 |Pick: 9 |

Position Rank: 41st
Overall Rank: 172nd
Role: Starter
Agent: "My client is pretty happy with his role and amount of playing time"
09-10 Statistics: 11.9 ppg, 0.9 rpg, 3.9 apg, 1.1 spg, 16 GP, 16 GS

Mark Moore was picked on potential; that was evident after the Bobcats passed up on drafting his countryman Andrew Watson. With that said, the Bobcats must be happy with how all of this panned out with Moore proving much more NBA ready than he was thought to be.

Moore forms a high scoring three headed backcourt with team mates Devin Harris and Gerald Wallace. His experience as a star sixth man for the Arizona Wildcats has taught him to be unselfish with the rock as well as being able to step up in crucial moments. His innate ability to find the open team mate as well as score on athletic forays to the rim makes him a dangerous player to leave open. Moore’s devotion to staying fit will help him to survive the rigors of the NBA season as well as playing for his native New Zealand over the Summer.

In many games, Moore might not score many points but he always finds a way to help his team win the game. When he is relied upon to score, he also delivers; as evident in his career high 26 point game against the Wizards. That 26 point performance beat out his previous personal best of 22 points, set the night before against the Bulls.

“Mark does what is needed,” one of his teammates said, “I am just amazed at how much of a team guy he is.” One of his coaches praised him, “He runs circles around everyone at practice. He has so much potential to be a ‘somebody’ in this league.”

With those kinds of compliments, Moore can sleep better at night even if the Bobcats are in last place right now. “You win some and you lose some,” Moore speaks candidly of his team’s inability to add to its wins column, “We don’t have such a great team right now but that’s only because we are a really young team. Once we get a bit more experience playing together, we should become better.”

NLSC Rookie Statistics

Byron Brock 9.2 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.0 bpg
Mark Moore 11.9 ppg, 3.9 apg, 1.1 spg
Martti Must 11.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.1 bpg
Klemen Pirc 4.8 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 2.1 apg
Zoilo Resurreccion 10.4 ppg, 8.4 apg, 1.1 spg
Andrew Watson 15.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.4 apg

I'm happy I dropped to Denver though

Very nice and clean presentation. I'm doing pretty well I see, 11-7-5 is decent I think. :D

Can't wait for my own player focus.

Best of luck!
