He was on the bench.

It was pretty fun, never had a game where two players just took over...

Thats a big call, T-Mac was never called best player in the NBA when he was having crazy scoring nights. I would argue that either LeBron or Chara would be the best in this association.
Great win by the way, will be one of those playoff games that goes down in history. Will be interesting to see why Tyson didn't start.

Yeah man, it is a huge call.

Chara's teams have never made the playoffs. I don't know who has a better supporting cast between Bron and KD.

KD has Bogut, Lee, Kidd, Bell, Ty. That's one current All-Star (Bogut) and Kidd is still an All-NBA talent.

Bron has Mo Williams (Who can light you up for 20ppg but incosistently) and Rudy Gay seems to have fit in fairly well and operating as a very effective second fiddle... most of the other Cavs just slot in well like Rudy Fernandez (who had a decent year as a starter) and cant remember who their centre is... Delonte West plays great as sixth man.

Bron kills KD in stats but my virtual Bron is not as consistent every night as Durant in the points column...

kaiser_kobe wrote:Wow, great, hard fought win! (Y) They scored half of their teams' points, amazing!

Was Ariza the one guarded Gordon? He was shutted down that game! Nice. :)

Finally, Lakers won a game. :D

No, Bell defended Gordon. :P

Mark. wrote:Good to see the Pistons leading the Cavs (Y) Hopefully the Magic will come back agains the Heat, although im not confident. Would love a Detroit Magic conference finals.

I'm feeling Detroit Miami...

That's one angle to look at things.

hova- wrote:Wow, what an outburst by the two go-to-players. 28 and 22 in the fourth. That is wicked. Really a classic shootout and youre writing just once again made it feel like it was a real all time classic taking place.

Durant Praises Roy After Amazing Scoring Duel

May 6, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – 53 points from Brandon Roy has reportedly gained the respect of Kevin Durant. The NBA scoring leader was no slouch himself as he registered 52 points in an exciting scoring duel, which saw Roy come out on top by 1 point. However, Durant was the main winner as he finished with a double double (52 points, 10 rebounds) and a Game 3 win.

After the game, Durant praised Roy, “That’s what I’m talking about. When you talk (expletive) to me, you need to back it up. My man Brandon Roy did that and I look forward to playing against him more.” Durant added, “But this does not mean I’m not going to beat him. Nobody gets past my team baby.”

The Seattle Stealth trail the Portland Trailblazers 1-2 in their second round playoff series.

Karl: Tyson Is Definitely Playing Game 4

May 6, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – George Karl has stated that SG Reshawn Tyson is a definite inclusion in his Seattle Stealth squad for Game 4 of their second round playoff series against the Portland Trailblazers.

Media and fans were caught by surprise after Tyson did not end up playing a minute, after intense speculation that he would start Game 3. Karl addressed the issue after the game, “Reshawn is not at the point where he is ready to start a game for us and I did not think that he was ready to play a role for us in Game 3. However, I have decided that I will let him put his uniform on in Game 4 and sit on the bench.”

Tyson was a solid second scoring option behind NBA scoring leader Kevin Durant and sometimes even led the team in points during some outings. After returning to practise from a strained groin injury, Tyson should be an asset to the Stealth who are playing without Rasheed Wallace.

The story so far

David Lee Could Be Healthy For Game 5

May 7, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – A hot topic at Seattle’s training sessions has been David Lee’s ankle. Without Rasheed Wallace and Lee, Andrew Bogut has struggled to get the open looks that he has enjoyed since being traded to Seattle. “It’s definitely luxury to play with two great forwards. I was getting great looks because the defence had to stop all of us and they can’t it back and wait for the ball to come to me in the paint,” Bogut said.

Wallace’s ability to shoot from mid range and further out as well as Lee’s unconventional scoring style allowed the Stealth to spread the floor. Against the Blazers, the Stealth would love for that to happen as they come up against one of the League’s top shot blockers in Greg Oden. Unfortunately, Bogut is not getting the open looks or space due to his frontcourt partners being hurt.

Good news is that Lee may be fully recovered from his twisted ankle by Game 5. Bogut smiled at the news, “I heard it this morning. I can’t wait because Greg Oden is really making it tough for me to score. He’s a freak of nature. David is definitely going to help me get a few more buckets in.”

Chris Wilcox Wants Bigger Role

May 7, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – Chris Wilcox worked hard on the glass and helped the Stealth offence continue to flow during Game 3 of the Seattle-Portland second round playoff series. Wilcox finished with 12 points and 8 rebounds in a solid stand-in effort for injured starter David Lee.

After a taste of starting, Wilcox is hungry for more. The 6’10” PF has spent the past two seasons backing up Lee from off the bench. He has struggled to garner steady minutes and the team’s recent acquisition of versatile Rasheed Wallace sent Wilcox further back into the depth chart. “I want to contribute on this team,” Wilcox said after the team’s shoot around session ahead of Game 4, “Tonight, I am going to play and prove that I am capable of playing more minutes and being an important member of the team.”

Head Coach George Karl praised Wilcox’s attitude, “I think it is very important for a player like Chris to keep his head up and wait for his turn. I am very pleased that he is able to play so confidently and show us that he can shoulder the load left behind by David and Rasheed.”

Yeah he is, he's my fringe third stringer though due to my depth in the frontcourt. Poor DJ White is also struggling to get any court time whatsoever...

Greg Oden Scores Career High 28 As Seattle Get Rolled

Preview | Box Score | Recap

Image
Oden powered his way to a double double

7 May, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – 2007 second overall draft pick Kevin Durant has always had the upper hand in individual success whenever he’s been pitched against the number one pick of the same draft: Greg Oden. However, Oden and the Blazers advanced to the 2010 NBA Finals at the expense of Durant and the Stealth last year. Tonight, Oden had the last laugh again but this time it was not just for his team prevailing in Game 4 and taking a 3-1 series lead. Oden dominated in an amazing break out game.

“I’ve never seen Greg so motivated,” Nate McMillan stated, “Brandon (Roy) played really damn well in the third game but even though Greg didn’t score 50 like Brandon did the other night, he still had an amazing game and led us to the win. I think Greg’s performance tonight was another special part of this playoff series. We’re one game away from the Western Conference finals because of him.”

Oden could not wipe off his grin after scoring a career high 28 points. He added 14 rebounds and 4 blocks in a dominating performance; a performance that comes on the back of some of his harshest critics recently labeling him as a ‘solid starter’ at best. “I wanted to prove that I can lead a team if need be,” Oden said, “I came out fairly motivated plus Kevin (Durant) helped a little bit too.”

Durant finished with 30 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals in an effort that went to waste as the Blazers cruised to a double digit victory. He refused to admit that his team was not good enough to match the top seeded Blazers, “Portland was lucky. They just made some lucky shots. They’re not better than us. We just had a bad game.” When Durant was told that his team was one game away from elimination, he responded, “So what? It ain’t over till one team gets to four games. I’m going to get us to the next round. It’s my team baby.”

Durant also pinned some of the blame on SG Reshawn Tyson. Tyson made a surprise return after having been sidelined since April 1. The second year swingman entered the game in the second quarter and immediately got to work, scoring 12 of his 16 points. By then though, the Stealth had already fallen behind by a considerable margin and trailed by 16 points at halftime. Durant criticized Coach George Karl’s decision to play Tyson, “I don’t know what he (Karl) was thinking. We (Stealth) were on a roll but Tyson has come in and ruined the flow and the chemistry of this team. We didn’t need him and he’s just (expletive) up the series for us.”

“We were supposed to go back to Portland with this series tied,” Durant elaborated.

Tyson was actually the second highest scorer for Seattle as he finished with 16 points. Andrew Bogut added 14 points and Jason Kidd rounded out the Stealth’s double digit scorers with 10. The veteran PG was adamant about Seattle’s chances to stay in the series, “We’re a strong bunch mentally and physically. We’re going to go into Game 5 with a positive attitude.”

Oden led five other players in double figures. Jerryd Bayless was crucial as he scored 21 from off the bench with Kidd struggling to keep up with him. Brandon Roy followed up his 53 point effort in Game 3 with a modest 15 points, 10 assists, and 5 rebounds. Steve Nash scored 13, Ben Gordon and Carlos Boozer added 12 apiece.

The brutally honest and blunt Nash provided the quote of the night after he was questioned about Durant, “I think he didn’t get hugged enough when he was younger.”

Notes: Oden's previous career high was 23 points... Reshawn Tyson refused to speak to reporters after the game… Durant was talking to Oden before the game. Oden dunked on him on the first possession of the game… Portland has a chance to finish the series with a win at home and advance to the Western Conference Finals. The NBA’s best team of the regular season is the favorite to win the Larry O’Brien trophy…

Terrible loss. Oden showed what he could do when healthy and playing full starter minutes. Game 5 is obviously a must-win. If you take that, then you'll likely take game 6. However, I think the odds are stacked pretty high against you.

Good to see Tyson play though.

Oh yeah, Steve boy. KD needs to get his mouth stuffed. Another elimination and he got the looser lable, at least I hope so. About Oden, we're in 2011 and he has not yet scored more than 28? What a bust ^^. But at least now he came up big. I see Portland making it back-to-back. Sucks for you, but you will have to take another try then (Y)

Yeah, added his previous career high in the recap. :) But he's grabbed 17 boards before... so he's been solid defensively... as i undertsand, his offensive capabilities in the NBA have always been questioned since he was in college... no one said he would be a force and that he was a 'maybe' to dominate at both ends of the floor.

The Blazers are the best team in the NBA. If they had this side in real life, I think they would kick some serious ass!

If Portland had that side in real life, they would not kick ass. Whenever Oden would go down, they would simply be atrocious defensively. Nash and Gordon would be terrible fits in Nate McMillan's system.
