Chris Bosh Deal Imminent

Jan 21, 2011

TORONTO (AP) – The latest discussion around the NBA have indicated that Raptors PF Chris Bosh is most likely headed out of the door in Toronto. Despite the team performing admirably, holding a record that would get them into the playoffs as a seven or eight seed, the Raptors are apparently to be looking to add more depth to their roster.

Two teams are believed to be front runners to attain the services of Bosh. The Denver Nuggets have been lobbying strongly to get Bosh and it has been confirmed that they offered the Raptors a package of starting frontcourt Nene and Kenyon Martin, along with solid bench contributor Lineas Kleiza. Nene and Martin form a solid starting combination for the Nuggets while Kleiza is scoring at a clip of 12 points a game.

An unconfirmed offer from the Seattle Stealth reportedly includes David Lee, Reshawn Tyson, and a first round draft pick. Lee is a solid rebounder while Tyson has shown flashes of brilliance from off of the Stealth bench. The Stealth hold two first round draft picks, both would likely be lottery picks. The team has been speculated to be saving a pick for the chance to draft Spanish PG Ricky Rubio but Toronto is said to have been lobbying hard for the Stealth to include a pick in any deal for Bosh.

One executive stated that a deal between Seattle and Toronto has been in the works for more than a month now.

Bosh: A Change Of Scenery Would Be Nice

Jan 21, 2011

TORONTO (AP) – In the midst of trade rumours, Chris Bosh was asked about what he thought about the possibility of switching teams. After the Raptors’ game last night, the Team USA forward stated, “A change of scenery would be nice. The team has really struggled the past two seasons and I’m not going to say I’ve given up on the franchise but if I get traded, well that’s business. I’ve got to be professional about it.”

Bosh has been openly criticised for his perceived ‘lack of effort’. One of the coaching staff went as far to say that, “Chris (Bosh) cruises through games. He doesn’t really care about winning.” That staff member was disciplined internally by the Raptors while players were ordered not to speak with the media. The gag order lasted a fortnight and ended last week.

Carmelo: Bosh Would Put Us Over The Top

Jan 22, 2011

DENVER (AP) – No player could be happier than Carmelo Anthony when it comes to Chris Bosh possibly relocating to the Mile High City. has played with Bosh before on Team USA while Nuggets’ team mate Chauncey Billups has also done so during national team trials.

Melo gave a resounding approval to the Nuggets’ front office in regards to the possibility of the team trading for Bosh. “We have such a deep and talented team here. No offence to Nene and Kenyon (Martin) but Chris would really help us win a championship.”

Tyson’s Days Numbered: Durant

Jan 22, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – Kevin Durant gave a candid interview with ESPN’s Woody Hannes in which he made a controversial comment that all but seems to confirm that second year sensation Reshawn Tyson will not be a member of the Seattle Stealth in the coming weeks.

“He’s not a good fit for this team,” Durant stated on camera, “Keep rolling this because I’m just saying what’s real you know. This kid is not mature enough and he’s not a good enough fit for our team. I’m the main player and I get to have a say in a lot of things.”

Hannes tried to divert the question but Durant continued.

“If I could have a choice and if I was calling the shots, then I would say that his (Tyson’s) days here are numbered. Don’t expect him around much longer.”

Top writing dude. I would love for you to get Bosh but am hoping that its Durant who walks out the door for him instead of Tyson, that way you wont have to lose a 1st rounder and you can probably get something else in return. Imagine a line up of Lee, Bosh, Green, Tyson and Kidd and you still have a solid bench. I like Lee more than Bogut so he gets the starting nod, but either way you are deep, plus you can probably bring some depth back from Toronto. Only problem that I havent bothered to workout would be getting the salaries to match.

Thanks dude! Yeah, matching salaries is tough, it just means Toronto will be getting more depth in return but I will be getting Bosh who is averaging a double double... one of the only big men in this virtual NBA world who does.

Kevin Durant Fourth Quarter Heroics Saves Team

Jan 23, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – The Seattle Stealth have been playing brilliant basketball recently and it continued as they battled the New Orleans Hornets, the team they knocked out in the last postseason; denying the Hornets a chance to defend their NBA title. Seattle led from start to finish and looked in control for much of the game.

Kevin Durant led his side with 26 points and 8 assists while David Lee added 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. Jason Kidd finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 17 assists, and 3 steals. Shooting guards Raja Bell and Reshawn Tyson also had solid games with 16 and 13 points, respectively.

MV P frontrunner Chris Paul had a valiant effort despite shooting 10 for 29 from the field. He had 23 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists, 7 steals, and held the fort down for the Hornets. Martell Webster scored 19 points. The Hornets trailed by double digits throughout the match but thanks to Peja Stojakovic’s performance in the final quarter, the away side was able to come back and make the game competitive.

Stojakovic scored 12 of his 16 points in the final quarter and it was his back to back three pointers that triggered a run that saw New Orleans come within 3 points of tying the game. However, Durant took over down the stretch and hit two key shots down the stretch to keep his side ahead and the game out of reach.

Iguodala Gets Better Of Durant Again

Jan 24, 2011

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Andre Iguodala scored 38 points while Kevin Durant had to be restrained as he lunged at the Sixers’ forward in a heated altercation midway through the third period. To Iguodala’s disgust, Durant was not ejected for his attack on him, but he put it all aside and scored 12 straight points to help Philadelphia cruise to a big win. Durant finished with 21 points and 6 rebounds.

Zoilo Resurreccion was brilliant as he scored 15 points and dished out 15 assists. Samuel Dalembert added a double double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Sixers got another mediocre game from Elton Brand; Brand has struggled all season to find form and is averaging just 14 ppg and 8 rpg.

Raja Bell scored 19 points and David Lee added 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Stealth.

Grizzlies Continue Slide Down Standings

Jan 26, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – After being embarrassed two nights earlier by Andre Iguodala and then being fined by the league for unruly behavior, Stealth SF Kevin Durant took it all out on an unsuspecting Memphis Grizzlies outfit. Durant came out of the stumbling blocks at full pelt as he scored 37 first half points. Durant would then sit out the entire second half as his side finished thrashing Memphis.

“This is why you don’t get me mad,” Durant told reporters, “I’m the best scorer in the league. Period.”

Reshawn Tyson scored 19 points from off the bench while Jason Kidd had another all-around effort of 11 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists, and 5 steals. Martti Must led six Memphis players in double figures; he finished with 19 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks. The loss pushes Memphis out of first place and sees them slide down to second. Their previously secure top spot has been compromised by a poor month of play.

Seattle Decimates Charlotte

Jan 28, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – Kevin Durant proclaimed himself as the best scorer in the NBA and he proved it once again as he scored 23 points in the first half before sitting out the entire second half against the Charlotte Bobcats. The forward added 5 rebounds to his tally. “If we keep winning like this,” Durant boasted, “We’re going to be dangerous in the playoffs.”

Seattle still remains a fair way from making the playoffs but the team has made up a lot of ground in the past few weeks. Part of that is attributable to the play of sixth man SG Reshawn Tyson who had yet another strong game with 20 points and 5 rebounds. The soft spoken guard spoke of trade rumours involving him, “Even if I am to be traded soon, I still play to the best of my ability. I am a professional.”

Jason Kidd had an easy double double of 17 points and 11 assists while David Lee finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The Charlotte Bobcats, only a month ago looking like a playoff team but now looking more like a lottery one, got 20 points from Devin Harris and 12 points and 10 rebounds from Emeka Okafor. New Zealand SG Mark Moore had just 6 points and 5 assists in limited minutes due to foul trouble.

Monthly Recap: January
Part One: Team Report, Results, League Standings, Player Stats

Monthly Recaps are divided into several parts in order to give readers a quick and organized overview. Part One of the Monthly Recap provides the league standings and player statistics; divided into the two conferences. It also features the Seattle Stealth’s’ team report and results of games played in the last month. Part Two will feature news, player awards, and transactions.

Team Report

Seattle made up a lot of ground in their quest to get into the playoffs as they came out of January with a 10-6 record for them month and an overall 21-25 record for the season. The Western Conference is so competitive this season that a sudden losing streak would all but kill any hopes of a postseason appearance. However, the surging Stealth should be encouraged by the fact that a number of winning streaks could get the team into the playoffs; a position no one expected this team to be in after a terrible start to the season.

The addition of Andrew Bogut seemed to have reinvigorated the team. Kevin Durant is currently having a solid season while Jason Kidd’s play has lifted since coming back from injury. However, it has been the play of David Lee and Raja Bell that has really got people talking. Lee’s work on the boards has become more consistent the past few weeks while Bell’s shooting has really opened up the floor for his teammates.

A tough January schedule saw Seattle take the scalps of top NBA teams such as the Washington Wizards, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Hornets, and Boston Celtics.

Although the team has performed admirably recently, the locker room has been engulfed in turmoil with word that second year guard Tyson has demanded a trade. Team captain Durant has also stated on the record that ‘the team would be much better off without him (Tyson)’. The following few weeks will reveal whether the Stealth will make a move for the much coveted Chris Bosh from Toronto, a deal that has been rumored to happen for two months.

6-2 last 8 games, good job. Miami's playing great!

Hey Sit, you think you can tell me the current Wizards roster? Could give me some ideas for a trade.

Good to see you turning things around. You won't be trading Durant, and it sadly looks like Ty is on the way out. The package for Bosh you are offering is extremely realistic and fair though. Go for it.

One thing: Its fine that you don't have mini-boxscores for the games you don't play, but can you post the teams' records in them again?

Monthly Recap: January
Part Two: Around The League

Monthly Recaps are divided into several parts in order to give readers a quick and organized overview. Part Two of the Monthly Recap is the ‘Around the League’ recap, which features player awards, transactions, and other League news. Part Three will feature a Team Focus feature on the Denver Nuggets!

Player Awards

Eastern Conference Player Of The Month:
SF Lebron James, Cleveland – 24.7 ppg | 10.2 rpg | 7.8 apg
Western Conference Player Of The Month:
SF Moses Chara, Sacramento – 30.8 ppg | 8.4 rpg | 6.8 apg
Eastern Conference Rookie Of The Month:
PF Jay Gray, Milwaukee – 18.5 ppg | 13.1 rpg | 4.5 apg
Western Conference Rookie Of The Month:
PG Ray Lliach, LA Clippers – 15.1 ppg | 3.9 rpg | 7.4 apg

League Transactions

The New York Knicks engaged in yet another blockbuster trade but the move looks too late to salvage the season. PG Allen Iverson was added to New York’s roster and the diminutive guard joins forces with veterans SG Vince Carter and SF Lamar Odom to give Knicks fans a draw card to games. On the court, the team has not had the desired results however in the stands, the Iverson trade has been a success renewing interest in the side.

Coming off a 54 win season, the Pistons were looking in danger of missing the playoffs and a shakeup was required. The Pistons acquired C/F Zach Randolph in return for Iverson in a bid to solidify their frontcourt. The deal has seen Detroit go 9-7 for the month of January and renew their hopes for making the postseason.

January Trades:

1 Jan – Pistons G A Iverson, C/F A Johnson traded for Knicks PF Z Randolph, C E Ruffin, PF J Hopkins
1 Jan – Mavericks PG A Daniels traded for Raptors F K Humpries
1 Jan – Nets F R Turiaf traded for Lakers G/F D Mason

League News

Raptors Decide Not To Trade Chris Bosh

After two lottery-bound seasons for the Toronto Raptors, Chris Bosh has come back and given them his best season in three years. The PF is averaging a double double of 27 ppg and 10 rpg while the team holds a 20-28 record. Although the record does not look impressive at all, the team is teetering on the edge of making the playoffs.

Criticized for his work ethic, Bosh has been embroiled in trade rumors that have suggested he may play for either Denver, New York, or Seattle. Bosh recently broke his silence and diplomacy by stating in an interview, “If I was traded, I would leave but I wouldn’t complain and just try and be professional about it.” He also responded to those who called him ‘lazy’ by stating, “Look at my numbers and tell me that I am cruising.”

The Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo addressed trade rumors yesterday, “I can confirm that we were looking at trade options. We did not get any offers that particularly interested us so we have decided to stick with Chris. We will see what the rest of the season brings.”

LeBron James Leads All-Star Votes

Cleveland’s LeBron James is the most popular player in the NBA as he leads all players in All-Star voting. New Orleans’ Chris Paul comes a close second as the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant is slight behind in third place. New York’s Allen Iverson is a surprisingly leading all Eastern Conference PGs in voting but does not look likely to gain a starting spot in the All-Star Weekend showcase due to guards Dwyane Wade and Gilbert Arenas both having considerably more votes.

Chara: I Am MVP

Losing Kevin Martin to injury has allowed Moses Chara to take over the spotlight in Sacramento but the team saw itself dive down the standings in the tight Western Conference. However, the cocky SF still believes that he is the number one player in the NBA. “Forget about LeBron James. I am the most valuable!” Chara has said.

Someone forgot to point out to him that the James-led Cavs are at 31-20 this season.

Knicks Fire Donnie Walsh

A slew of trades for aging superstars has put Donnie Walsh to the sword in New York. After having been hired in 2008 to take over as president of basketball operations for the Knicks, Walsh has effectively cleared out all of the bad contracts created in the tenure of Isaiah Thomas and replaced them with three has-beens; Vince Carter, Lamar Odom, and Allen Iverson.

As the team struggles through another tough season, the Knicks relieved Walsh of his services and have not announced a replacement. The team sent out a memo stating, ‘The Knicks front office will take on a collective role taking charge of player operations. A replacement for Donnie Walsh will be hired at a later date; most likely after the conclusion of this season.’

Seattle Still Looking For A Deal

The Raptors’ decision to keep Chris Bosh was a disappointment for the Seattle Stealth after months of negotiating to broker a deal. However, Seattle is now rumored to have their sights set on Dallas Maverick Dirk Nowitzki.

One Western Conference scout stated, “Dirk is not getting any younger and the Mavs may just want to start the rebuilding phase early. I’m pretty sure that they would be more than happy to trade for both of the Stealth’s first round draft picks so that they have a shot at picking Ricky Rubio.”

Other players that the team is said to have interest in are power forwards Elton Brand and Emeka Okafor.

The Knicks striking once again. Why do trades always involve Z-Bo oder AI. Those guys just plain suck. Chara sees himself as the MVP every year :). Time to get some wins so he can finally make the award.

I dont see Dirk leaving the Mavs anytime, especially not for a team that is fighting for playoffs. Brand and Okafor would be more realistic. Brand never really made it for Philly.

Utah seems to be going nowhere. I would trade for one of their PF's!

Brand is not making it at all in Philly. I'm trying to work something out for him. Okafor is younger but not as good as Brand. Still, trying to get a fair deal for both teams. :)

Be happy for now as I set my sights on another PF.

I'm not too sure if his offensive game is good enough but may be more solid than Lee. I haven't really got used to controlling David Lee...

They don't have anyone. They have Donnell Lawrence... the 2nd overall pick of the 2009 Draft... He's their starter who isn't even close to averaging a double double...

Actually, Millsap might still be around

But yeah, would only look at that second year player or Boozer.

You been catching up with the story? I've been writing the next chapter.

Yep, just finished last night. Can't wait to see what move was made with Reshawn and/or Durant.
