NBA 2K11 First Look (GameSpot)

Another hands-off preview for NBA 2K11 has been posted, with GameSpot adding their thoughts. The article mentions more intuitive controls and a removal of two player animations, suggesting that both 2K and Elite are looking to cut down on canned moments as much as possible this year. Check it out here.

I actually like 2K's two player animations. The blended very well. If they can reproduce the realistic look without it than I am all for it.

Yea their 2 player animations are what cause the holy shit moments in 2k for me.....I still see new animations nearly every game because of them and you can already pass out of those (while shooting)

2k also does the boundary forcefield pretty good and doesnt like the 2 player collision animations drive you out of bounds.
Opinions are my own.

It's an animation that involves two players but it plays out as one animation and looks the same every time. It's usually involves some kind of collision or is attempted to simulate a collision and give the game a smoother realistic look, which it has, at the expense of user control. During 2 player animations you have absolutely no control over your player for a moment until the animation has finished executing.

An example in 2K would be the double team animation, which is actually a 3 man animation but works exactly the same way. Players are "sucked in" to each other when the animation occurs and you can mash the pass button all you want but it will take a second for the player to actually attempt a pass.

another example is when you are backing down in the post and try to get a shot up quickly where instead the player will finish his dribble/backdown animation before he will turn and shoot
Opinions are my own.
