Talk about NBA 2K11 here.

Updating DirextX worked for the sound, but it then proceeded to freeze an hour or so in. The sound kept going after it froze for a second or two, then reduced to just crowd noise. Had to reboot. Any suggestions?

Anyone?

Here's the Can You Run It? screen:

Interestingly, that says I'm well above recommended specs, which doesn't really gel with the fact that I was only getting about 40-50 FPS when running the game. I had MSAA off, anything I could set at medium set at medium, and everything else at high. You'd think I'd be doing better if I exceed the recommended specs by as much as CYRI seems to think.
I don't have the most recent drivers for the video card, because those cause the display driver to periodically stop responding, resulting in a black screen for several seconds at best and a BSOD at worst. Other than that, and I doubt that's the problem (the drivers aren't
that old), I've no idea what's going on here. Is CYRI wrong?

Just ran the game in window mode, and when it locked up the rest of the computer continued to function, and I was able to pull up the task manager and close 2k11. So it's not, in fact, locking up my computer, merely the game.
Anyone? Any ideas?

reinstall it first(but i guess you allready do that)..and if this problem still appear, for sure its a software bug..maybe your audio file broke..

Installed the game on my mom's laptop, which is below the recommended specs but above the minimum specs. Set everything as low as possible on the video settings. It worked fine.
Set everything as low as possible on this computer, it froze, and "(Not Responding)" popped up in the title bar. So for some reason, something on this computer is causing the game to stop responding. If I run it in window mode, I can get out of it and back to Windows, but running it in full screen mode doesn't allow for that, forcing a reboot.
I guess I could work around it by saving my games as much as possible and never running full screen, but that'd suck.
I've run Ad-Aware, MalwareBytes, Spybot, AVG, and CCleaner.

Find a solution, or at least it works fine for me, for those who have encountered freezing problem during an aso or exhibition mode: you need to empty your cache folder any time you load the game.

Tried clearing the cache, it still froze. It's not happening even quicker than it was before, every ten minutes or so.

yeah, it's still happening to me. just tested many set of drivers: 258.96 seem to be stable as i did not get any kind of issue.
maybe this could help, maybe....

Drivers for what?
Sat Oct 23, 2010 11:32 pm
nvidia video cards im assuming
Sun Oct 24, 2010 3:24 am
Depends what card he's got, too. That number doesn't match the format I've got (though it could just be the last few digits, I guess), and I've never managed to find multiple driver versions anywhere. Massive pain, because I had a version that both lacked the 'display driver stopped responding and has recovered' error and showed video in the Adobe Encore monitor. Ever since it upgraded, I've had to choose between those two issues.
How is my graphics card as far as handling this game? It stutters a ton with MSAA on, and the time I get before it locks up shortened after installing the graphical miracle and Kaaba's courts (though it's freezing quickly on the Jordan challege, which doesn't involve johndoe's jerseys or Kaaba's courts, but does involve the global.iff), but I did get a few games out with the usual start>lockup time, so I'm not sure it's that.

....i am really perplex at your issues man....it seriously sounds like some demon in your computer just wont let it run
Sun Oct 24, 2010 4:40 pm
It's not responding. I've just had to reboot my computer because MSN stopped responding. I tried closing it and reopening it, but it immediately stopped responding again. Photoshop and Dreamweaver tend to stop responding for a few seconds quite often. Firefox keeps crashing, and even when it doesn't it occasionally stops doing anything, the stops responding once I click in the window. My computer rebooted by itself overnight.
So it's not really just the game. No idea what it is, though.

Might be a hardware issue.
Sun Oct 24, 2010 11:22 pm
well, that's good in a way that there isnt some fatal flaw in 2k11 that will slowly consume us all
sounds more like a virus to me though

doesnt mean it cant be a virus
Mon Oct 25, 2010 3:56 pm
Well no. Of course. But what more can I do about it?
Mon Oct 25, 2010 11:13 pm
play onlive?

Start troubleshooting your hardware components. Open your computer, unplug everything, dust everything off, replug everything firmly, and try again.
If you still have problems, look in your Windows event viewer to see if there is anything interesting like errors or warnings that have to do with drivers.
Tue Oct 26, 2010 2:54 am
Well, it's just done this to my computer:

Graphics card, I guess. However, updating the drivers has, in the past,
given that same result with nothing even open. It also returns the 'display driver stopped responding and has recovered' error, which is preceded by the screen going black for several seconds. The current drivers haven't had that problem. There is apparently a way to fix that, but it's way too complicated for me to follow.

How you even got a acreenshot amazes me. Can you under clock it?
Tue Oct 26, 2010 1:19 pm
I just pressed 'print screen'. Hardly difficult.
Under clock?
Tue Oct 26, 2010 8:12 pm
when I was artifacting I never had more than a few seconds before it died
