Talk about NBA 2K11 here.
Wed Oct 06, 2010 3:30 pm
I'm not even worried about playing it at the highest settings....just curious if I can play it at all for PC.
I'm sure I'm not writing this out correctly, so please forgive my ignorance. Here's what my control panel says:
Dell Inspiron 6400
T 2080 @ 1.73 GHz
794 MHz 2.00 GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon X1400
I know, I know....it's not a very good computer. Plus, it's a laptop, which means I can't really upgrade it. But unfortunately, it's all I've got. I haven't played a bball game on my PC since NBA 2K9, which was kind of sluggish sometimes, but somewhat playable. After reading about 2K11, I was really excited about it. Any chance you guys think it will work for me?

you can try the demo of nba 2k10 and see how it runs

I heard the requirements are about the same
Wed Oct 06, 2010 3:56 pm
thanks, man. I'll check it out. Where can I get the demo for PC?
Wed Oct 06, 2010 3:58 pm
STEAM has the demo for NBA2k10

Processor : Intel Dual Core E2180 @ 2.5ghz
Ram : 2GB
Video Card : 9400GT 512MB
OS: Windows XP

You can always try to run it at the highest settings and see if you are satisfied with the framerate

Does it? I can only see the 2k9 demo.
Wed Oct 06, 2010 5:27 pm
uhmm sorry I wasnt so sure, I just remember seeing someone post about 2k10 demo being available on steam, but anyway, i dont find 2k10 more demanding on the PC than 2k9 so maybe 2k9 can be a guide too

Those are old. Go with th 386's. I hear they're fast.
Thu Oct 07, 2010 7:30 am
So is it my understanding that if I could run NBA 2K9 (sometimes slowly), then I can run 2K11? Are they pretty similar as far as requirements go?
Thu Oct 07, 2010 9:10 am
Possibly. Run the test on
System Requirements Lab to see if you can run NBA 2K10. If so, you should be fine for NBA 2K11.

Andrew, I went to the site and did the test. I passed on everything except CPU speed. Here's what it said:
CPU Speed
Minimum: 2.4 GHz (2.8 GHz for Vista)
You Have: 1.73 GHz
Is there anyway around this? I realize I'm reaching here....just would really love to play the game on PC, as I don't plan on getting an XBOX or PS3. And I don't see myself getting a new computer anytime soon, unfortunately. Is it possible to overclock my system? (Don't really know much about that...like I said...just reaching.) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can overclock your system but it's very unlikely that you could make up for the lack of speed according to those figures, and even if you did your system would probably be unstable as fuck.
Decent processors that are much faster than yours are cheap these days, you really should upgrade.
Thu Oct 07, 2010 10:13 am
Do you have a dual or quad core processor? There's a bug with system requirements lab where it will fail you for the speed despite having multiple cores that deliver better performance.
That 2K requirement it should be noted is a Pentium 4 Single Core. Core2Duo's and up all have much better performance at slower speeds.

Well, I have a laptop, so other than buy a new computer that would be hard to do.

Hmm, not sure. How do I tell whether I have a dual or quad? (Sorry for my ignorance.)

In the control panel go to System and it should tell you what processor you have.
Alternatively you can run
CPU-Z and it will also tell you.

Is that a daul core? If so, think it will work? Thanks man.

You might not be able to max it out, but you should be able to run it at some setting.
Thu Oct 07, 2010 12:15 pm
Thanks for taking the time to reply, guys. Since the PC version is so cheap, I think I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

I've set mine to "Medium" for most and "Low" on Arena.
MSAA is 0
V-Sync Off
1024x768
I get about 50FPS. I'm trying to reach 60 but it's rather hard.
I'm only using:
2.2Ghz Core 2
Nvidia 9600GT 512MB DDR3
4GB Ram
Windows 7
