Disabled Players

hi! i would like to know how can i trade/assign/release players in the Manage Roster menu (i'm not playing Association or Season mode) that are in the disabled list? example, i need to release Leon Powe to FA but when i try to release him, a dialog box appears and says "cannot release players that are in the disabled list". same also appears when i want to make trades with a disabled player. can somebody help me out on this? thanks in advance!
