No support for native 16:10 resolutions in NBA 2K11 ?

Thu Oct 07, 2010 1:10 am

I am running the game @1920x1200 resolution and it does look a little stretched out just like it was with NBA 2K10 before the patch, but you be the judge.

To me it seems that its slightly stretched (at least the score table looks stretched upwards), but maybe I am wrong.

Was it a fixable issue before the patch arrived for NBA 2K10 ? :?:

it looks pretty standard to me. I have the same aspect ratio, I think you can go to your graphics panel and check or uncheck fixed ratio. I can't remember, I'mma look at it when I get home. I finally got my copy late last night, and havent got to play it, just installed. I was too tired from school.

ALSO!!!! I've read last year that those who had the pirated or cracked version of the game had scaled ratios, soooooooooooo..... lets hope that you have the retail copy so that the issue can be fixed!

I don't recall that one, you got a link? Not to the crack, but about how it's fixed?

First post!

I just read about it last year on one of these forums, can't remember. Also, last year, I had an 15 inch laptop so I was fine. But this year, I have the m17x so hopefully, I dont have that problem!

Last year's game didn't support 16:10 until the patch.

Those screens look "normal" to me, but don't take my word for it. Hilarious if they somehow forgot to keep that in the game.

Yeah I would say that those screens look fine, the stretching would really be minor if any. I certainly hope 2K didn't screw up on this like last year, had to wait 4-5 months to get proper widescreen support...

Just zoom in on the ball during replay mode and see if it's completely round.

They look fine to me, if it forced 16:9 to a 16:10 screen, and the players would look skinny instead of fat because it would squeeze the extra width to the screen. You can also try it in your cards control panel to preserve aspect ratio and if it isnt "real" 16:10 there would be black bars on top and bottom

Usually when you make a screen shot, it looks regular but in the game its shows, it difficult showing how you computer displays something to others..

So in game do the players appear skinny and the ball not round?

I messed around with various resolutions in windowed mode and @800x600 I did notice that the score table no longer stretched out as it does when I ran it at my monitors native resolution of 1920x1200. Here are two screens where you can see the difference. So I would say that native 16:10 resolutions are not supported by NBA 2K11 similarly as it was with NBA 2K10 before the patch.

Umm, different stadiums have different layouts.
Just do what I said in my earlier post. It's pretty easy to determine whether the ball is round or oval when using a 16:10 resolution.

He's talking about the scoreboard overlay, which isn't affected by stadium layout.

Ah, yes. didn't see the outline. That doesn't necessarily mean that the whole thing is stretched.

Good point, since I do not notice it elsewhere. Shall I zoom in to the ball @1920x1200 and post it here or its no point of doing that ?

I just did a test at 1680x1050(16:10) and 1280x720(16:9). Ball was perfectly round in both of them. So, it's just the overlays.

Messed around with the config settings and here's what I got in regard of the court reflections and overall look. The odd thing is that arena should be set to low in order to get such court reflections.

The lower setting arenas use a darker wood texture, that's why the reflections show up better.

IMO, the arena floors look better this way.

then put your setting to low and enjoy your NBA Live PC quality relections.

on high court files the reflection is diffused if you will through the wood, making it more realistic

on low court files it doesnt do that so you get the same "mirror" reflections as the PC versions of NBA Live.
