cant release players in association mode

xbox 360 by the way...

so during association mode i proceed as follows

general manager
manage roster
rosters
choose a player option below

view player card
edit player
no other options are available... how do i release a player? send them to the d-league even? i am a bit frustrated

Are you sure it's your team that you are viewing? 2k doesn't automatically change back to your team, it leaves on the team you were last viewing.

i am actually in controle of all 30 teams. i am running a fantasy type association where i sign players to certain teams each year based on what "legendary players were drafted that year... so in my 1st year (2010/2011 = 1979/1980)i will sign Magic to the Lakers, and Bird to the Celtics... with both players ages and years exp edited to year 1 values. so magic is 20, bird is 23... and every year i will add the next group of guys who were drafted in following years, i'll just have to subtract a year from each legendary player in the free agent pool each year til they are signed, signing MJ to the bulls in 2016 ewing and malone in 2017 to thier respective teams... if you get my drift. a retroactive fantasy leauge, done by replicating the drafts (yes i am going to edit each draft class to try to turn the current nba into the 80's and 90's rosters over time.)

the problem is, theres too many guys on the current rosters to sign anyone new. and the only option i am presented with is view player card or edit player. i could trade to make room, but this seems a hassel. i just want to release players, or drop them to the d-leauge. how the hell do i do that? then i can just sign the legends as rookie prospects and let them do what they do.

can anyone help with the releasing to free agency thing? i controle all teams
