NBA 2K World Franchise League for XBOX 360

Postby vince15 on Wed Oct 20, 2010 2:53 am

Welcome to NBA2K World!

First, let me explain what we are all about here. We have seen a lot of leagues be productive, active, and overall successful, but we’ve wanted to bring you all something different, something special. NBA2K World is a Franchise League, which means the team you pick on season one will be your team until you retire!

You will choose your team and make as many transactions as you want during the season, but the following season you must draft the same team you ended the previous season with. We are bringing you a unique experience, but something I am sure you all will enjoy!

The only thing we ask from you is that you are active on our site, play your games and follow all the rules! Our rules are made so we can all enjoy this game and so we can all have the opportunity to have fun while playing a clean game.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is a Franchise League?
A Franchise League simply means you will be taking over an NBA team and you will be in control of that team for as long as you stay in the league. The same applies for your roster; at the end of the season you will carry over your team and your roster and try once again to win a championship, defend the title or simply try to get the missing pieces to compete for a title in the upcoming season(s).

What rosters are we using?
The league will use real roster for season one.

Can I still make trades during the season or am I forced to play all my games with the team I have?
You can make as many trades as you want, but the following season you will draft the same team you had at the end of the previous season.

How many trades can I make during the season?
We do not have a limit. You can make as many trades as you want after your first three games played.

How many teams advance to the Playoffs?
The best 16 teams advance to the Playoffs.

The Transition into the next season…
Once we are done with season one, you will draft the same team you ended season one with and move right into season two, and so on…

Salary Cap & Collective Bargain Agreement Information

History
The NBA 2K World Salary CAP was established in an attempt to level the playing field among all of the teams and ensure competitive balance for the League in the future.

Salary Cap
The NBA 2K World Salary Cap in 2010-11 is $58.0 million.

Luxury tax
The NBA 2K World Luxury Tax in 2010-11 is $70.0 million.

There are consequences for exceeding the salary cap by large amounts. A luxury tax payment is required of teams whose payroll exceed $70,000.000. The GM must pay the league Commissioner a $5 fee via PayPal which will go to cover league costs and prices.

What is included when calculating a team's Salary Cap
1. Salaries of all active and inactive players
2. Salaries of waived players

What is NOT included when calculating a team's Salary Cap?
1. Salaries from summer league contracts.
2. Salaries of players drafted in an expansion draft and later on waived before the season starts.

Are there exceptions to the salary cap?
Yes. Teams are not allowed to be over the salary cap, unless they are using one of the following exceptions. In season one we will follow some, not all of the exceptions required by the NBA, we will use the basic ones:

Mid Level Salary Exceptions
this exception allows a team to sign any free agent if the team is over the salary cap. This exception is worth $5.7 Millions in 2010-11 and might be split to sign different players. It may be used for contracts of up to five years in length. If the player is a restricted free agent with one or two years of service and receives an offer sheet from a new team, the player's prior team may use the Mid-Level exception to match the offer sheet.

One Million Exception
This exception allows you to sign a free agent if you are over the cap. This exception is worth $1.7 Millions in 2010-11 and might be split to sign different players, but cannot be combined with the Mid Level Exception to sign a player.

Larry Bird Exception
The Larry Bird exception allows teams to exceed the salary cap to re-sign their own free agents, at an amount up to the maximum salary. To qualify as a Bird free agent, a player must have played three seasons without being waived or changing teams as a free agent. It also means that when a player is traded, his Bird rights are traded with him, and his new team can use the Bird exception to re-sign him. Bird-exception contracts can be up to six years in length.

Rookies Salaries:
First round picks have guaranteed contracts while second round picks can be signed for the league minimum for a rookie of $450,000.

Here’s a breakdown of Rookie Contracts.

1st Pick | $4.3 million – 3 Years
2nd pick | $3.8 million – 3 Years
3rd Pick | $3.4 million – 3 Years
4th Pick | $3.1 million – 3 Years

Salaries and Length of Contract
Real life salaries and contracts apply for the first season. For the following season your player salary will increase by one million dollars

Example:

Vince Carter is currently earning 17,000,000 and is under contract for two years. For the 2010-11 season Vince will earn $14,000,000, but for the 2011-2012 season his contract will increase by $1,000,000 so he will earn $15,000,000 during the 2011–2012 season and so on…

Example:
The Bulls sign Janero Pargo to a three year $2,000,000 deal.
Here’s the breakdown of the contract:
2010-11 | $2,000,000
2011-12 | $3,000,000
2012-13 | $4,000,000

Trading Rules
*** Before you plan a trade you got to make sure you are on the league pace and within three (3) games of the team you are trading with. If you are not within three games or behind the league pace your trade will be rejected. ***

When and where can I send my trade offers?
All trades are to be posted in the Trades Approval Forum and put through the 2K Site, that way once the trade is approved in the Forums we can go to the 2K Site and approve it there so you can have your players in the game.

2K World does not conduct transactions on Sunday, so if you submit a trade on Sunday you will have to wait until Monday for a response.

Can cash be included as part of a trade package?
Players can be traded for cash, and cash can be included in trade packages. The amount of cash is limited to $3,000,000. Only teams under the CAP can trade cash.

Balancing Trade Rule
Teams below the salary cap may trade without regard to salary, as long as they don't end up more than $100,000 above the cap following a trade.

Teams above the cap cannot acquire more than $500,000 of the salary they trade away. There is no lower limit—teams may divest themselves of as much salary as they wish in a trade.

Example:

The Lakers trade Kobe Bryant ($25,000,000) to the Magic for Vince Carter ($17,000,000). Both teams are over the cap, so this trade would be rejected because the Magic would be taking in $8,000,000.

The Lakers trade Andrew Bynum ($5,500,000) to the Lakers for Marcin Gortat ($5,700,000). Despite the fact that both teams are over the cap the Lakers are only receiving $200,000 in the trade, which is OK according to our Balancing Trade rule.

What happens after I acquire a player?
After a trade has been accepted by the Commissioner of the league you have 24 hours to trade that player to another team. If you decide not to trade the player then the "Two Week Rule" comes into effect, which means you will have to keep that player on your team for two weeks before that player can be traded again.

Are draft picks worth money in a trade?
A draft pick has no value. You cannot use a draft pick to match a salary. You also cannot have consecutive years without a first round pick. For Example:

New Jersey Nets own a 2006,2007,2008,2009 1st round pick. They can trade their 2006 draft pick in a trade, but they cannot deal their 2007 pick. They could choose from 2008 or 2009, but if they deal the 2008 pick they cannot trade the 2009 pick. You cannot go through two seasons without a first round pick.

Waiving a Player

What are waivers?
It's a temporary status for players who are released by their team. A player stays on waivers for 48 hours. A player released at any other time stays on waivers for seven days. During the waiver period other teams may claim a waived player. If more than one team tries to claim the player, the team with the worst record gets him. If a player on waivers is claimed, the new team acquires his existing contract and pays the remainder of his salary. If a team trades a player and the player is waived by the receiving team, the player's original team cannot re-sign that player for 15 days (during the season) or 20 days (during the offseason) following the date of the trade.

*You can release a player from your team at any time, but you still have to follow the contract of that player until another team picks him up or until the player becomes a free agent.

Free Agency
Free Agency begins three days after the 2K World Draft and runs through the end of the regular season. As explained above you may sign any free agent if your team is under the salary cap. In the other hand if your team is over the salary cap, your team will need to use the Mid Level Exceptions or the One Million Dollar Exception.

A team over the cap can also choose to sign a free agent to a minimum contract:

NBA 2K World Minimum Salaries

Years in NBA | Salary

0 | 473,604
1 | 762,195
2 | 854,389
3 | 885,120
4 | 915,852
5 | 992,680
6 | 1,069,509
7 | 1,146,337
8 | 1,223,166
9 | 1,229,255
10+ | 1,352,181

Offering Contracts to Free Agents

Just like in real life players have a certain amount of money they feel they deserve and that is called their “asking price”. As a General Manager you can offer a Free Agent as much or as little as you want, the asking price just let’s you know the amount of money the player would like to get paid, it is up to you to please him or try to get lucky and offer less money and still get that player.

In NBA 2K World the players asking price depend on their overall rating and here is how we break it down.

Overall Rating | Asking Price
95 to 100 | 20-25 Millions
90 to 95 | 17-20 Millions
80 to 89 | 12-17 Millions
70 to 79 | 7-12 Millions
60 to 69 | 2-7 Millions
50 to 59 | 1-2 Millions
40 to 49 | 850,000 – 1 Million
39 or less | Minimum Salary

Unrestricted Free Agents vs. Restricted Free Agents

Unrestricted Free Agents
Are free to sign with any team.

Restricted Free Agents
Are subject to his current team's Right of First Refusal, meaning that the player can be signed to an offer sheet by another team, but his current club reserves the right to match the offer and keep the player.

How do I send my bid for a Free Agent?
Go to the Free Agency section in the forums and submit your offer in the Contract Negotiation thread.
