That's pretty much what he has to say. If he didn't, then it'd be disastrous for them.
Anyways, I think they can tweak it a bit more at least so it's "release-able." As long as it's on the marketplace at least.
I'm loving the ESPN integration. I, myself, have always looked for that in a game. To get that feel.
With the release of this video, I sure hope in the coming days EA would release a video of a later build of NBA Live since they claim it is quite the old build is from "months ago."
I mean come on, it's almost the end of August. :?

How about we wait for officially released footage that isn't pre-alpha?

I don't know sir but i did't like what i saw in this video, actually NBA live 2004's dribble moves and shots're looking better than this one...:( I hope EA make a better game than 'cause I would like to see competition between two companies...:D

It appears no FIBA in the game either, if the leak is accurate enough for that
Opinions are my own.

This could have been all part of their "disruptive" marketing strategy.

No way. E3 Build i saw (June) didn't have "Exit Game" and the teams logos weren't all bolded and weird looking in the selection menu. When they went by Nets at E3 it was shadowed out as in they didn't have a logo yet for Brooklyn. This is a later build

It may be a later build, but how much later? Possibly not much.

But that gets us closer and closer to present day.. If all they managed to acomplish in a dev cycle till mid-June is this, how much work can be done in only two months? And asuming that is game is being released in first half of October, they only have about month before this game goes gold (if it's a retail release). I don't know how this works with downloadable titles, but I don't that it gives much more time to polish this game.. So far everything doesn't look good, especially when you see what 2k Sports has to offer so far, and it's a big shame because I just love that ESPN integration in this video..

What was on display at E3 was pre-alpha and supposedly not indicative of what was currently being worked on. They weren't at the pre-alpha stage at that point, they just brought along a pre-alpha version for demonstration purposes...presumably because it was stable enough not to crash on them and included a few of the things they wanted to highlight.

the players movement looks awkward. it looks like nba live 99 movement. cmon ea. fix your engine.
plus they all look like have the same shooting stroke.

digging the presentation (upgrade from Elite 11)
like the ball movement for the human player on the Heat, it's a lot like Live 10
hate the out of bounds by hitting the backboard. that's an issue i had with nba 2k7
no problems with player models/jerseys/faces, standard EA quality.
not a fan of the sub cutscene. they shouldve added more variety like Pdub said or dont have it at all
animations could use work. probably a byproduct of the collision system. wish it was a bit smoother like in Elite 11
Durant is ballhogging a bit. they should've upped Westbrook's primacy.
i wonder if the player is still using the stick shot method from Elite 11
not a fan of the regular jumper.
sig shots not really noticeable like in Live 10/Elite 11

and jhesus this is obviously not even close to a finished product, so calm yourselves. EA would be idiotic to repeat the same mistakes they made last time.

Pretty sure they've still got something similar, can't remember what it's called offhand though.

Just watched this video. Gameplay is terrible, animations are terrible, jerseys look weird, player models look weird with the jerseys. Presentation is good, which means nothing, (if you put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig).

Hmmm looks like a beta game...

But i think EA Sports have a problem with something on the finished product or the demo...

The lack of news is very sad...

I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet but at 9:59 the whole Heat team runs to the other side of the court before knowing the result of Battier's shot.

The "overused" substitution cutscene isn't even correct. It shows the player who's supposed to be checking in going to the bench.

To be honest that's good news for me and the rest of us PC Gamers out there. We won't have any regretfulness for it not coming to PC now after understanding that the gameplay of it is poor! :D

If it's bad at this state, I can't imagine it being any better during the release. Less than 3 months or so till release date. At least the NBA 2K13 gameplay feels a lot more promising by the looks of it! (Y)

Edit: Just saw the gameplay video if it. http://kotaku.com/5936592/it-lives-heres-10-minutes-of-gameplay-from-nba-live-13 It's an absolute joke! There's no other way of describing it.
It's actually given me worser impressions than I initially thought of it. The graphics are so poor, it looks like a PS2 port. Animations appear to be slightly robotic. Gameplay is also very arcady. 3 years in development and we get this?!

Just glanced at the Wiki entry. I'm guessing it's the Go-To-Guy attribute these days, assuming it's functioning properly as of NBA Live 10.

EA Sports screwed up many times with NBA Live in the past because of the lack of focus & direction. If they stick to the mindset of simulation basketball & follow it though without changing direction then NBA Live will succeed.

I don't get why people are being overly critical. The bare minimum expectation was an actual video game.

Ow!

Unbelievable! This video is TERRIBLE!

Man, i´m Live fan and patch makers for years, but EA kill this series.

Now EA said "It´s a beta version" Cmon!!! If it´s a first beta stills TERRIBLE! Look this engine....NBA Live 08 old gen are better. Man, NBA Live 10 it´s good, not if u compare to NBA 2k10...but it´s a good actual gen game.

This video is a joke.

PS: Love the ESPN presentation too.
