Euroleague License?

Postby bigball12 on Wed Jun 09, 2010 4:05 pm

What do you guys think the chances are that we may see this in the future? Just imaging a field of the top 20 or so teams from the Euroleague. With the FIFA License for some the clubs Football teams, it may make sense, and may be easy to license the Basketball clubs as well. This would open the teams selection up a lot, and it is always fun to see a lot of the ex-NBA players. I have been playing with International teams online lately, and it is a real blast!

Probably not very good, from what I've been told the Euroleague license is too expensive to justify so we'll probably just have to settle for the FIBA teams. Apparently they're getting updated this year, so that's something.

I had a feeling that would be the case, however with most of the clubs in Europe having a football counterpart in the FIFA series, it may not be that difficult to license the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Olympicaos etc. Good to hear about the updates, the only teams that are 100% correct are Spain, USA and some of Australia. Recently, my M8's and I have been playing Team Play strictly with FIBA teams. Serbia is incredible! The starting 5 is all in the NBA, except for Marco Jaric. It's also fun to play with former NBA players in the FIBA modes.

Possibly, but different sports have different rules when it comes to likeness rights, on top of the expense. Maybe it'll happen one day, but there are bigger priorities (with an update to the FIBA teams being a welcome substitute in the mean time, in my opinion) and the price will need to be right.

Having spoken with the devs at previous community events, stuff like this is always considered and one of those things they'd like to do for some extra content, but much like the situation with certain legendary players, likeness rights are a hurdle that can't always be cleared.

Since it's called NBA Elite and 95% of the people buying the game aren't interested in European basketball I don't think this will ever happen.
I live in Europe (Sweden) and have no interest in Euroleague whatsover :)

Thats good about the Fiba teams being updated. About 50% of the reason i like to purchase Live or now elite is because of Fiba :) Also i like the rookies cause I watch alot of NCAA but they never seem to have most of the Rookies face or models I know this is because of licensing but come on they didn't fix alot of the rookies from last year in this game. Buy the way Bigball12 i agree with you the spain and usa rosters are 100% good (Maybe add rose and Durant and take out Redd) but the Australian roster is probably the most outdated of the whole FIBA teams. Only Bogut, Nielson, Andersen, Newley, Worthington and Mills. Plus they only had 10 players this year Smith, Saville and Mackinnon have retired from international Bball and Helliwell??? Whers Jawai, Maric, Ingles, Bruton and Barlow???
