Sliders and An attribute slider feature maybe?

Postby atlwarrior on Sun Apr 25, 2010 5:03 pm

For God sake on sliders can they bring back the values instead of that stupid meter thing. When I copy sliders i dont even know if I copied them correctly. That drives me crazy. :shake:

And am I the only one who thinks the attribute slider feature is one of the sickest features ever. That is one of my fav features of all time whoever came up with this on the 2ksports development team is a genius and I think it is definitely worth stealing and putting it into nba live. Not sure how they would use it with all the individual ratings though but it would be sweet to have. This feature would definitely help us change the AI even further to our favor along with sliders though.

I wholeheartedly agree. We can share sliders via the locker of course but that's not feasible for everyone and they're so much easier to represent when they use numerical values instead of the bar/meter display, thus much easier to write down and share if need be. By all means keep that bar/meter, but give us a number next to it. (Y)

I haven't had much experience with the attribute slider though it might be hard to implement with Dynamic DNA. Nevertheless, the more options we have the better and there are a few sliders absent from the current games that we had in the last gen games that would be useful to have again, like the boundary force field slider and substitution frequency to name a couple.

An attribute slider (NBA2K) is available in a similar fashion in NBA Live. Basically you can edit ratings by the team. The attribute slider in NBA2K affects players' ratings directly so it does the same thing, except I think it doesn't permanently change simulated stats.

Pdub, I know youre talking about the Global edits. right? I like the global editing feature but should a players attribute be negatively impacted because of an in game issue. I used a guy named Cabrillo sliders and he also used global edits for each team. You have to go through 30 nba teams plus the fiba and all star teams to finish and not make one mistake. It made the game better but some players werent as agressive after doing those global edits. Sorry im a sliders head as you can see :) and dont have xbox live so i cant use EA locker. With Nba 2k you dont even have to go through with all of that doing global edits to 30 teams and what not. All you have to do is the attribute sliders and thats it every team is done. But I agree with Andrew this may not be so easy to put in the game because of Dynamic DNA. But maybe they could give the user the option to use the global edits on every player on the game including Free Agents. I could live with that.

In theory, Dynamic DNA should result in pretty accurate results in terms of player performance out of the box without any tweaks. I felt that was improved in NBA Live 10, so hopefully the third incarnation of Player DNA in NBA Live 11 will see further improvement (and work better with the sim engine). From there, we'd ideally only need minor tweaks to most of the existing sliders to get the kind of gameplay we want, unless someone wanted a flat out arcade game or was tweaking the game to make it easier or harder.
