Hi Drew,
Well, I decided to pop down under again to see if they'd make NBA Live for PC, but I didn't have my hopes up... And I wasn't that disappointed. Much. This "transition" started with NBA Live 2002 already and it's been going on train tracks ever since. There is no way us players can affect the GM's plots in any way, so we just have to ride the train and see what he (as in EA) has in store for us.
I would really love to play Live again with the enthusiasm we had for the franchise back in the day... I didn't like NBA 2k9, so I'm not giving that company any more of my cash, but would love to play Live again. I just don't see it happening. They said it would come back, but it hasn't and the last couple of NBA Live releases for the PC were just quickly thrown together with as minimal effort as possible. So it's not like we need more of that.
I still do not understand why would you move to a console "controlled" creation of a multi-platform product, since the consoles are limited in their capabilities and the resources are the same every year, it is very hard to bring new innovation in a system like this. If you always had extra resources next year, you could go a little more crazy every year and maybe do something you would have just dismissed as un-doable when you knew the limits of the CPU power etc. when you were brainstorming. I would just like to be a fly on the ceiling looking at this process from back in the day compared to what it is today.
But enough of my yearly rant... Still don't own a console and have no plans of getting one either... Let's just say, the day I read that EA is making NBA Live for the PC again, will be an extremely pleasant surprise! I've given up hope on it. It ain't going to happen, so stop "expecting" it to. There is little point in it. Let them surprise us with GREAT NEWS if they ever choose to do it again.
