I'm often surprised when I see graphics ranked above gameplay or game modes in terms of importance but to each their own I guess. I'm easier to please when it comes to the graphics, probably because I have fond memories of the days when the graphics were nothing like they are now.

GET REGGIE MILLER PLS!

The other day I was the Celtics against the Cavs, I was down by 2 with 3 seconds left, I took a timeout and told myself to just get the ball to Ray Allen to go for a game winning 3. Only problem was, he was the one inbounding the ball!!!I found Rondo, but as everyone knows, he isn't a shooter, so I missed the 3 and lost the game. All I am saying is, at times, your clutch shooters end up having to inbound the ball at the end of games, and that's not cool.

There were heaps of patches for NBA Live 2001 including tweaked rosters which specifically tried to improve the gameplay by addressing issues such as the offensive to defensive rebounds ratio and lack of a midrange game and NBA Live 2001 had its fair share of issues which were discussed/complained about all those years ago.
In theory you don't have to use patches or tweak the game if you don't have a problem with the product out of the box. Many of us do, which is why we seek to make our own fixes and enhancements. Some people prefer a slower, more realistic pace and lower shooting percentages, others are fine with the default gameplay settings. What you see as too complicated, many of us see as necessary customisation opens so that ideally, each player can get the experience they want out of the game.
