Simple guide to back-up your NBA Live 08

Postby Maek on Sat Jul 26, 2008 1:40 am

To all
Here's a quick guide in modding your game and to avoid mal-installation :

Always back-up your files

- Copy the NBA Live 08 folder [program files]{this can be fresh install or stable patched} and rename it i.e. NBA Live 08B.
- Now when you are installing a new patch/mod, install them in the NBA Live 08B.
- After installing go back to the folders and rename them both [be sure not to confuse yourself, NBA Live 08 to NBA Live 08A and NBA Live 08B to NBA Live 08.
- This way your CPU will read the correct folder such as NBA Live 08.
- And if there's a problem with your latest mod and you want to delete it. Just delete the file itself or revert back to NBA Live 08A and delete the NBA Live 08[crashed] folder. Be sure to rename again the 08A to 08.
- But if you find the latest patch/mod good and stable, then delete the 08B and copy again your 08 and rename the new folder to 08X.

Happy Patching mates!

We'll be looking to better organise the tutorials in the near future but in the mean time I'll sticky it so that it won't get lost.

Thanks Andrew!

Never thought this was the 1st of its kind.
Anyway, I'll just update them with images for better explanation.

Sorry, we can't help you with that as it's against the Forum rules to discuss ways of getting around using an original copy of the game.

Correct, you can only modify the files on the hard drive.

ok...since i have my original copy, and there are some posts here that using 'no-cd' patch is not advisable, how then i can patch my game if i will use the orig dvd copy in my dvd drive? if altering the installed file will causes it to crash?

The roster patch places updated art in a folder within the main game folder called sgsm and also places a couple of rosters in your saved folder which you can then load within the game. It doesn't have to overwrite or modify any other game files.

i don't understand the last tip:
But if you find the latest patch/mod good and stable, then delete the 08B and copy again your 08 and rename the new folder to 08X.

Since the patch/mod installed in 08B is good and stable, shouldn't the original (08) be deleted and 08B renamed to 08?

Hello, I would like to know which programs and how can I make my uniform, change the roster, etc., in short, be able to do a mod, because I find nothing. A greeting and thanks

The answers to those questions can be found in the Tutorials here in this section as well as in our Wiki.

Thanks for responding, but the wiki is just for NBA LIVE 05, 04, etc, and not for NBA LIVE 08 that interests me is the editing, the forum can not find tutorials or to edit the roster.

A greeting and thanks

A lot of the information in those tutorials still applies. For the rest, there's the other NBA Live 08 tutorials here in this section.
