Games always decided by only a couple of points

Postby JezzaPJezza on Sun Nov 22, 2009 8:51 pm

Almost every game I've played s1nce getting 10 a week ago results in scores only a few points apart. On All_star and the on Pro, Good teams vs bad teams, 5 min quarters, 12 min quarters. I go ice cold and the 360 makes a charge in the 4th quarter, I've played a number of overtime games, including a triple overtime. I'm a veteran hoop gamer and finally took the plunge and got a 360 to play one game, LIVE. For me I like the vibe more than 2k on my PC, I believe live has built a new experience from the ground up over the last few years and I like their direction.

So I'm liking live, but I'm not into feeling like it's always an uphill struggle against the Grizzlies on Pro with my Celtics.

In the 'old days' you could turn off this catch up/close game logic, am I missing something. Should I be changing the default sliders?

You might want to try tweaking the sliders a bit but for what it's worth I've had blowout victories (and losses) as well as closely contested games on All-Star difficulty.

good to know. So far the only blow out I've had was from playing on Super Star. I'll need to see a cosmetic surgeon about getting the spalding logo removed from my forehead . . .

Straight after this post I played Houston at home hosting Golden State. Houston comes out on top by 4 in double overtime. Pro.

i'm playing 8 minute quarters on superstar (Magic) . In the begging of the season I was losing every game by 20 pts , then I started to win everything by 20. Currently I'm having tough games against Lakers, Celtics or Cavs (most of them I win but not all of them) , I usually beat average opponents by 10 pts. My last two games were at home against Lakers and then Clippers . I won both of them but against Lakers I won by 3 points after OT and against LAC I had my best performance in the season and I've won by 38 points.
I think that it all depends on your players form for example Nelson in the first half of the season was scoring 24ppg, but Carter was dissapointing and now Its the other way around, Carter is brilliant , Nelson is much worse than in the beggining..
My record is 44-22 currently. My sliders are tweaked, I've set CPU rebounding (both- off and def) to 0 and USER to 100. The rebounding totals are almost equal now.

Maybe I subconsciously always want a close game. Had a great game online as raptors vs suns. Suns had me all game, then in the 4th Turkoglu came to life and made a string of contested shots to go ahead by 2 with the shot clock turned off. He came down found grant hill deep in the corner for 3. Dagger, I was so busy falling off my chair "NOOOOOOOOOOOO, great shot' that I missed that there was 0.8 still on the clock. I got a 5 seconds call on the inbounds, GAME OVER. I guess I just need to learn how to play this game. :D

It's admittedly a bit different when you're going up against human intelligence rather than AI. Tough loss, but a learning experience I guess. ;)
