EA Staff Twitter and Forum News

Talk about NBA Live 10 here.

A simple solution to loose ball fouls would be to have off ball animations between two players on opposite teams that can be manipulated by the user whether on offense or defense and having the possibility of drawing or causing a foul.

For instance, when a player is boxing you out, if you try to jump forward to get the rebound, over the back loose ball foul. When fighting for position in the post, a loose ball foul can be called. When defending a cutter, a charge can be drawn or a impeding foul can be called.

After putting thought to it, I agree that it shouldn't be added half-assed. A full implementation would be good.

Yes to diving and no to 'hand created'...

Diving is back baby

Outstanding. (Y) Hopefully there won't be any issues with out of bounds calls though, such as the diving animation overriding the recognition that the ball has gone out and should be dead.

from iminurbase
@iminurbase has the create a player been revamped and thanks for answering all of our questions.

I'll admit, not too much. We had grand ideas at the start of the year that we weren't able to tackle. We have added about a million shoes, changed some accessories, and added more animation templates though.

I asked if that 50 player cap limit has been raised or not
Opinions are my own.

Yeah hopefully they have or can make it capable of more before the release of the game. Was hopeful they would apply more to CAP this year but I guess they did already have an ambitious plan for Live 10 so I guess I can wait 1 more year for a more expansive CAP.

That's one thing that's always bugged me about the Live series. They take things out that were already in the game, then put them back in years later and act like it's some big step forward in gameplay. Why not just leave it in there to begin with and build on it? Frustrating.

After reading some of Andrew's 10-10's, I guess it shows that I haven't bought Live in a few years. Things that I take for granted that are in 2k series like diving, over the back fouls, logical CPU timeouts, & things in dynasty mode like multi-team trades & hiring & firing coaches & assistants, shorter season lengths, multiplayer dynasties don't seem to be in Live, or have been in the past & have been removed for whatever reason. They mostly seem like pretty normal things that you would expect to see.

The transition from last gen to the current gen wasn't very kind to NBA Live. I think the philosophy of trying to rebuild on the new technology rather than porting what they had before with better graphics, but I think it set them back as well. In the meantime, the last gen became an afterthought so it suffered as well after a few reasonably solid years with NBA Live 2004-06, meaning the game fell short on all platforms.

Maybe not those exact words, but something like that. Man I have such high hopes for this game and I never felt this way about a game. PLEASE DON'T LET ME DOWN, EA!

Yes, there is some of that. Kobe vs. Shaq, Melo and LeBron... bigger rivalries.

Well no, the storylines are based off of things like player stats, records, matchups, etc. So in an online game you have espn live stats and the latest dynamic dna rosters. So, your storylines will be for whatever the pistons are going through in real life at that time.

It seemed unlikely storylines would apply to someone's record online. Presumably, the flow of a Dynasty season will be reflected in the storylines as we originally thought.

Create a Team feature this year? (Incase New Zealand is left out of FIBA teams). Thanks.

No, you won't need it.

boo, no CAT, but yay? NZ

If the game saves the 50 best plays of the match, will they be ordered? If thats the case, how exactly? (time, importance, spectacular nature, by player)

Ordered by quarter/time/team/play type. For example, you can look at only dunks for the home team by quarter.

saweeeeet
Will we see live 10 use the ESPN logo the way it was used in Fight Night Round 4?... eg. Wednesdays, Fridays and sometimes Sunday

In our new game mode, real games that are on espn get the logo.

Dynamic Season?
Will there be replays for things such as blocks, steals, assists or rebounds? and will there be things such as team pregame introductions like this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CR4VG...eature=related

Yes on the first, no on the second.

will there be an animation for not stepping out of bounds lika lil tip toe or somethin jus wonderin

yes

Did you guys eliminate that load screen with the team Logo after every deadball, seeing that and hearing that little sound effect after every deadball was anoyying to me

yes

Can we please get a vague/cryptic message about OTP? Please?!

adidas LIVE Run

Its on our website.

I could be right on this one, using CAPs and such
Will users have the option to choose more than one team in Franchise Mode?

Not in Dynasty Mode, no.

And in season mode?

That's a little different.

Dynamic Season probably

Base....

Can you clarify somethings about the "hanger".

1) can we "team" personalize the hanger (ie. logo's, colour's etc)

2) can we set our own player to player in the hanger.

3) Is the practice gym from last year still in the game ? (ie, team colours, logos, setting whatever player you want to be controlable)

4) If the above question is a yes, do we have the option of booting up the game practice gym

1. no
2. no (we make some special groupings of players to mix it up)
3. yes in dynasty mode
4. no
Opinions are my own.

Last three questions

1. is there going to be a pre game starting lineup introduction?

2. Is there going to be a better half time report?

3. Can I still make defenders in gameplay fall down? :?:

I remember the developers or community manager saying something about it not being a priority since NCAA comes out after NBA Live, and most people don't play Live much after playing the NCAA game.

If ANYTHING, they should set up the NCAA game so that the draft class(es) can be imported into the next upcoming NBA Live game, rather than the one that came out a few months beforehand. Again, that would probably be a very unlikely scenario, considering that the NBA game is changing on a yearly basis. By the time the newer NBA Live would be released, there would most likely be problems with attempting to import players into the newer game.
